Royal Table - converting from credit card to Dining Plan

Hi,

We made a reservation at Cinderella's Royal Table before we had finalized the rest of our trip. So, it went on our credit card. When I made the reservation, I explicitly asked if I could later convert that reservation to the dining plan. The guy checked and came back and said sure, just call us back. Well, FALSE! Now when I called to do precisely that, they told me that their system does not permit this! (They would have to cancel our existing reservation and make a whole new one, but, since everything is booked up now, there is a chance that we will simply lose our reservation, and I'm certainly not taking that chance.)

The reservation clerk tells me that, when it's time to pay, we can just put it on the dining plan and our credit card will automatically be credited back. But, I now do not trust the Disney reservation people as far as I could throw them. If they gave me wrong info once, how do I know they're not giving me wrong info again?

Has anybody actually done this? That is, have you reserved CRT on your credit card, and then presented your dining plan when you showed up? Were there any hassles involved?

Unless I know for certain that people have done this without any problems, I'm probably just going to cancel our dining plan, since the savings isn't worth the anxiety.
 
You should call back again! Just last week, I called to have my CRT reservation switched to DDP. They also asked me if a later time would work so they could cancel the reservation and reserve it under the new time. I told them that would not work as I already reservations for the Dessert Party and the times would conflict.

The CM said OK. They changed the my reservations and kept the same time without a problem. Later that day, I checked my reservations and it had the new reservation number they gave me with the same reservation time. I also checked my Visa statement and my money has been refunded.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, I just called them back and got the exact same story again. When I reported what you told me, they said that all that could have been done is that your reservation was cancelled and re-booked, with the risk of losing it in the meantime. I have no confidence in what they are telling me, but this is all that the people I'm speaking with are willing to do. While the odds are that that would work fine, I'm not risking it.
 
We had the CC credited back last September. No problem. You have to do it there in most cases (a manager may know how to do it on the dine line). But typically it requires you to cancel and rebook. Unless you "need" to have it credited back now, I'd just wait until you got to the restaurant. It was done before we were even seated.

While it would be nice to get that money back in this month's credit card cycle (since we need to pay for the rest of our trip, including the dining plan, now), we're ok with getting credited later as long as we know that that will happen without hassle.
 
I too have switched to DDP at the restaurant and had my cc refunded. I'm pretty sure this is a fairly common occurance at CRT. I would just wait (if you can) and do it there.
 
Could you just book it using the DDP ahead of time? Can this be done online?? Or are CRT ressies only done by phone if using DDP???
