Has anyone stayed here? I was planning on booking an offsite hotel like HIFS or something similar for a few days at the beginning of August but this one has some great prices.

Any and all info would be much appreciated.

I've never stayed here myself but have read a lot of the reviews and it looks like the key to a successful stay is to get a TOWER room. The wing rooms are worn and ugly.

i stayed there way back in 95. i had a tower room...the resort was renovating at the time, but i liked it! i love the area it's in...walking distance to DD...it's so nice to take a relaxing walk in the late evening after the stores are all closed up there in DD...

i don't remember much detail about the hotel, but i remember that it was clean and was a great place to stay!

Thanks. I'm looking for a good place for DH to hang out while DS and I are at the parks and it's so hard! It's hard to have a Disney challenged husband.

Any other thoughts? Anyone? :)

another thought on a different resort just minutes from Downtown Disney - how about Cypress Pointe? 2 bedroom condo, full kitchen (think storing beverages, lunch stuff, snacks, icecream for hubby to have access to) $63.99 per night (3 night minimum) booking through hotelkingdom.com. I think the tv is 42 or 48" + a dvd player in the living room (can watch movies or ESPN on the big screen while you are at the parks). They also have a fully equipped gym & a nice pool to lay in the sun to relax. If you need only 2 nights, you can book Cypress Pointe Grand Villas at about 85 bux per night for a 2 bedroom.

You didnt mention if you will have a car, this resort does not provide transportation to the parks.

Hi Melissa. I'll check into that one for sure. Yes, we will have a car thank goodness so anyplace is fine in that regard. Wow, that big TV sounds cool. :)

travelzoo.com has a special for the hotel royal plaza -tower rooms for $69 a night--My father stayed there a couple yrs ago and said the room was great---good size and whirlpool tub---also they had a bar with happy hour ---there was a restaurant but he did not like it. He said it is walking distance to downtown disney and a Goodings store , in the shopping center, there is a Red Lobtser and some other restaurants. We just planned our trip and are staying there in May---I will let you know if it is still good.

Stayed there last October, I think hotel had just had one of its frequent renovations, hotel looked pretty good. I like this place-nice size rooms, good rate, walkable to Downtown Disney- BUT, had a tower room near the top not facing I-4 but at angle to I-4 and at night the I-4 noise was a problem for me. If noise at night hurts your sleep try and get a tower room overlooking WDW, not facing the I-4. I would think some of the garden rooms- not in the tower- which are almost next to the interstate could be rather noisy also.
