I've decided to stay at RPR for 5 nights at the beginning of our holiday as we have never stayed there and want to spend more time round the Universal parks and area as DD is now older and I think will enjoy it more.

I priced it up on the website and it is coming up as $223 per night, which I think is a good price compared to other hotels nearby and also compared to Disney hotels. But is it a good price or could I get it better (I've looked but can't find it cheaper)?

I also clicked on the AAA discount option but the price was still the same. I seem to remember reading that you have to call to get the discount rate - is that right? ANd if so, do you call the USA or is there a UK option.

Also, am I likley to get a discount in August or not?

What dates you looking for? Could you do your last 5 nights insted of 1st 5 nights? they sometimes offer better rates later in August.
For 5 nights its possible cheaper to buy an AP for at least 1 person to get the discounts, have you already bought tickets?

Most people prefer to book direct as any lower prices you see between now and you going can be added to your reservation for no fee. Booking via an agent you tend to get stuck with that price or have to pay a fee to cancel/alter.

Last Augsut when we stayed 3 nights we got an error price, it does happen time to time, paid $152/nt.

You call the US for Universal hotels, don't think there is a UK option.

The dates we are looking at are 6-11 August. It would have to be these dates as everything else for the holiday is booked.

WE haven't booked tickets yet and it does seem to be cheaper to do it direct so I will stick with the direct route, especially after what you have just mentioned.

Thought I had seen a thread for next years rates but can't find it, keep watching this forum for one to start, subscribe to it and whenever someone sees a good rate they post in it http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=75

This thread gives you an ideal what people paid this August

This one which I posted in for 2010 rates

Best rate I see just now is $228 incl tax (£143/night) with Hotelopia after 6% cashback with Quidco, can cancel upto 29th July for only £15. Direct is $251 incl tax (£157/night) Personally I would not book so early, I would wait for better rates.
I booked with Hotelopia for last months trip with 10% discount & 13% cashback, if an offer like that comes back then I would be tempted still knowing I could cancel for only £15 if I saw an AP or AAA rate better.

Just found a better rate but again I would wait.
Monarch.co.uk £138/nt less 3.5% Quidco = £133/nt, quite a bit lower than the direct rate of £157 but should go lower IMO.
