What is the route of the 5K run at Castaway and do many folks walk it as well?

Many thanks for taking the time to reply.

This might help...

Do the kids who win or place in their age group get a special medal or certificate?

Krissy, it is not timed. There is a clock, but it's up to you if you look at it at the start and finish. Therefore, there are no winners (except everyone who got up early to go run in the Bahamas LOL) and NO losers whatsoever. And I believe the youngest age allowed is 10. (it's NOT the same as the paid rundisney runs)

OP, in case it's not obvious, the run has you go twice around that loop. Clockwise BOTH ways.

It's counter clockwise both ways. You always take the right branch whenever there's a fork on the bike path. That's the way the map shows it and the way we ran it when I did it last year.

When I ran it last year, people were running the loop counter-clockwise heading out and clock-wise coming back - that way, you were always on the right hand side of the path and weren't running into people heading in the opposite direction.

We did the 5K on Sunday.

Lots of people including us walked.

The loop you do twice and you always keep right!

We enjoyed it and got our medals!!

If you always run it counter clockwise then the slower people keep to the right and the faster people keep to the left. That way everyone is running the same direction and there's more room for passing. I'm sure that was their intent and it makes the most sense to me.

You probably passed me somewhere along the way! I was the guy barely dragging along on the left side! Got my medal too though! (Note my time was actually 49:32, but there was a line to take pictures). Almost everyone was walking / speed walking. Few 'runners'.

Gah, yes, counter clockwise. I'd been at DS's Irish dance class and they were doing something with half the kids going one way and half the kids going the other, and it must have confused me through the evening. :)

The point is, that some people like to do it one way the first time and the other way the second. Despite the CMs telling people repeatedly that it's the same way both times.

How long did it take you to walk it? I was planning on walking.
