Rough Bumpy Quick Acceleration Rides

We're coming to Disney World in August, which is only our second time here (and last trip was awhile ago when our kids were younger). I've had previous health issues with my eyes and have to be careful with bumps or things that have a quick acceleration or drop (but a single drop like in Pirates is ok). e.g. I don't do big rollercoasters or Tower or Terror and although I went on Indiana Jones at Disneyland a few years ago, am thinking I should avoid Dinosaur at AK.

Are any of the following overly bumpy or big drops or acceleration?
  • Avatar Flight of Passage
  • Kali River Rapids
  • Kilimanjaro Safari
  • Mickey & Minnie Runaway Railway
  • Rise of the Resistance
  • Millennium Falcon (think I heard this one is rough)
  • Remy Ratatouille
  • Frozen Ever After
Thanks.

- Flight of Passage (Avatar) is a simulator with perceived drops and accelerations so not sure if that might make a difference?
- Kilimanjaro Safari is extremely bumpy and occasionally may accelerate quickly
- Frozen ever after has one drop like Pirates but you so go backwards down the drop.

- MMRR and Ratatouille are smooth

Can’t remember the others well enough to be helpful

I would probably avoid most rides if you have health concerns about your eyes. Even the smooth/gliding rides can have unexpected bumps if the cars start to backup at the loading/unloading zone.

Thank you. These help!
Will skip the Safari ride...others seem like they would be ok.

For comparison...Ones one fence but I've been on before before my issues: Test Track (probably will skip this time), Big Thunder is a maybe (since more swoops and turns), Alien Swirling Saucer (am assuming this is similar to the cars one at Disneyland), Star Tours (haven't decided if I will avoid)

When in doubt- sit it out! as I’m getting older, I have inner ear issue, so I’ve proudly become the official “bench warmer”

Remy and FEA should be fine. FEA has one bump when stopping to reverse direction but it is a fairly slow ride. MMRR has one section where the cars move side to side in a bumpy manner a few times. The cars never touch but I usually get thrown up against my DH. The pre-show film is fun, though.

I don’t remember bumpy parts to Smugglers Run or Rise, but of the two SR would be more likely to be bumpy as I believe it is a motion simulator ride that varies with the skill of your “pilots.”

Thanks. I'm not that sensitive and still want to live (otherwise may as well stay home). My specialist said 'I can try it and stop if my vision is off', but obviously that's too late. But in general, he said to just watch rides that will jar my head too much. For others (such as full blown rollercoasters), I've just heard others in my condition be told to avoid them so that's just me being cautious.

And yeah, will probably skip Test Track and a few others that I love...but the ones above, I haven't been on before so trying to get a sense.

Another question will be....can I walk through the rides with my family and when they get on, I get just leave? This works say, if the exit spot is the same as the entrance. Or do I need to set a meeting spot each time and wait an hour or so?

If you can do Star Tours you can do SR. ST is bumpier.

Good reference thanks. I only tried Star Tours once at Disneyland. Don't remember it too much so it's a bit on the fence (and not sure how much each ride can differ)

Rise of the Resistance has some jerking motions where the trackless car pulls up and then quickly backs away. And there is one drop- nothing like tower of terror but you drop once about 10 feet.

Yep. Forgot about those. I seem to remember them like a bad stop at a stop sign in a car rather than an emergency braking. Does that seem about right? The “drop” I don’t remember as bumpy, do you?

Big Thunder is pretty jerky in my opinion more than the Safari. IStar Tours gives us motion sickness 😬.

Yes I agree. The drop is not bad, I actually don’t even remember a drop😂

You can walk through the line with your family and then just tell the CM at the loading dock that you won’t ride, and they’ll direct you to the exit and where you can wait for the family. All WDW rides have an exit for non-riders. FYI if you do this, if your family is using the LL for that ride, whether Genie+LL or ILL$, you’ll need one too in order to enter the line.

Thanks so much....and good to know about the Genie+/LL rule.
Guess for Genie+ I'll just book it too, but for LL rides, we will select a designated meeting area since no point in paying if I'm not riding.

do not be surprised that CM says the "Chicken Exit" as that is the term for it

I agree-Big Thunder is probably bumpier than most on your list. Smugglers Run can make me sick to my stomach because of the combo of the screens and having a “job“ to do. It was worse for me when I was the pilot. Remy was smooth but if you have vision issues that one bothered me with the very fast movement of the screens.
