RotR Planning & Daily Boarding Group Discussion - *CLOSED*

I haven’t driven to the park in years. You have to pay to park now, correct? Do they just tap your magic band? Our plan is to drive as opposed to Uber so we can leave our bags in the car until we need them? Is there handicapped parking at HS?
If you are staying at a Disney hotel, you have already paid your parking charge and you won’t be charged again. If you are staying off site and don’t have an AP, you will be charged to park.
yes. There is handicap parking everywhere

Does tap in mean the magic band? Is that before or after bag check? I’m trying to formulate a plan to make sure I get to ride it...Also concerned as I have reservations for lightsaber building in the morning, droid building in the afternoon & ogas in the evening. I don’t want to miss those/get charged for nothing. Any way around it if a BG clashes with one of these?

"Tap In" is generally referencing the act of scanning your ticket/admission media - be it a Magic Band or a hard ticket - at the "Tapstyle" (the combination park ticket/admission scanner and finger print scanner) touch points before entering the park. The Tapstyles are located after bag check.

When your boarding group is called, you have 2 hours to return to the RotR ride to board. That should provide a decent amount of flexibility for all but the most packed schedules, if you're still in the park. If for some reason your schedule does conflict in a material way with your boarding group, guests have reported reasonable flexibility with attraction CMs at RotR or at the venue of your other conflicting reservation.

Thank you!

So I guess the rumor that cast members were checking in at 8am this week was wrong. Disney is keeping real opening info under lock and key, I guess.

It looks like Disney is basing opening time on when the lines get back to the security area. They were having people fill all areas rather having them in lines today. It looks like that bought them about 20 minutes extra.

Official Minnie Van start time is 6:30am. However I've been told they will sometimes put vehicles in service earlier for special circumstances if needed. But my opinion would be to not totally depend on MVs for early morning travel and to have a backup option or three - hard to depend on a dynamic/on demand service like that when it's stretching their normal operating hours and when minutes count.
Thanks very much!

thank you! So for a family of 5 adult size ppl - would we need 2 cars for the ride share or are there enough large size vehicles to fit us all. We’ve not really used rideshare before aside from the Minnie van

I have similar situation - though just Droid Depot ad Oga's. I get stressed about logistics and just not knowing if/when our boarding group will be called provides some of that stress

I figure with the 2 hour return window we should be able to plan around things and if we are in the queue for RotR and there are technical issues resulting in us taking much longer than expected to get through it and thus being late for any appointment, I gotta figure CMs will be understanding to that and try to accomodate if we are a bit late

I’m not due to fly out for another 39 days & I’m stressed already. It’s the same sort of stress going for the rail at a concert!

Another possibility, is that if you get a later boarding group you should think about just doing your reservations early before your boarding group even opens - you can show up to Ogas/Savis/Droid Depot, tell them you have a reservation for later but would like to do it now. Since the parks are open before official opening time, there are no guests with reservations present and they usually take walk-ins early - I was able to get into Ogas last Thursday/Saturday mornings with hardly a wait at all as a walk-in, canceling a noon reservation I had later that day... just be aware that for Ogas specifically, they have a few items in the morning they do not have later (like the Taurine Tea, my favorite). I don't know if they have drinks that you cannot get in the morning, but I don't think so.

I think you could even ask at someplace like Savis to do your reservation that day instead of some other day you had booked.

I am pretty sure you could take a lightsaber on Rise of the Resistance by holding it between your legs, or maybe laying it on the floor, I wonder if anyone has yet.

Was it like this when Smugglers Run first opened? Going to Disney for the first time next month & wondering if by then the chaos will of died down? I’m staying at Coronado springs & I’m reading that the buses are hit & miss. Rotr is the ride i am most interested in on my week long trip. :)

Buses are definitely hit or miss at CSR. I would suggest Lyft or Uber and very early park arrival if your goal for HS is to ride RotR. Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks!

if the park is opening to guests at 6:30am for an official opening of 8 or 9, is Oga's open during those "bonus" hours? If so, are they letting in walkins? We have a 1:30pm Oga's (and an 11:20am Droid) but was curious about the breakfast options at Oga's so if we could do a quick stop in to try those during those extra hours that would be cool
