Rough few days for us….
We checked in to the VGH on Sunday this past week, and on our checkout day at 2am Wednesday, our 2yr old son was throwing up every 20-30 mins. We got home and he started a fever and I went to the pediatrician, she said probably a stomach bug. Two hours later, he had a febrile seizure lasting about 10 minutes. We went to the emergency room by ambulance, the doctor said rhinovirus. An urgent care visit the next day, and still he wasn’t getting better. Yesterday, back to the ER for some horrible diarrhea and I brought in a stool sample. Today, got the call it was rotavirus and ecoli. Hes 2 and so it is very hard and I am very repetitive on not touching bars and no hands in mouth, and washing hands, but I am not perfect. Just a friendly reminder, so hopefully the next family can avoid this nightmare of a week.

I’m sorry your little one became so sick! My eldest daughter had it as a two year old and she was very unwell. In Canada we now have a vaccine that’s regularly given for it, thankfully.

Just a note regarding hand sanitizers, they aren’t affective against noroviruses so make sure to regularly wash your hand with soap and water.

So sorry that Maleficent has cast a sickening spell on your son. I hope he gets well soon…

My daughter 36, had a similar situation when she was 2 ish. I feel for your son and you too. I cried so hard when we were in the emergency ward and the nurse lifted my daughter out of my arms to take her for testing! Febrile seizures are scary and I've been through those too. My son 33, had one(only) when he was very young and it's frightening! My grandson 11, has had 3. Thankfully his last was when he was 4 years old so I doubt very much, he'd have another. Keep things very simple when your son starts feeling better. Mashed banana, applesauce, saltine crackers. I'm sure you'll know what's best! I'm praying for a quick recovery!!

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this! How terrible for your son and your whole family. It's so hard to see them sick. I hope he gets better quickly now that they know what he has. I'm glad you were able to get home before the worst of his illness. It's so much better when you have your own pediatrician right there, and the comforts of home.
