I'm sure it's on the threads somewhere but I searched and can't find it. In one of the threads yesterday it was mentioned that the rotations are PLAPLAP, LAPLAPL, and APLAPLA. Do they use any criteria to base what rotation you'll be in or is it random? What are your chances of changing it once on ship?

The conventional wisdom is that families with smaller children start in Animator's Palate (APLAPLA), those with older children start in Parrot Cay (PLAPLAP), and adults traveling without children start in Lumière's (LAPLAPL). This is by no means a hard and fast rule, though. While we (adults with no kids) have always had LAPLAPL, we've been seated with families with small children before, as well as at a table which was all adults.

You can try to change it once on board. On embarkation day, there will be a time a place set up to meet with the dining manager to request changes. They'll try to accomodate you, but there are no guarantees.

I personally, do not think one rotation is necessarily better than the others, so I just take what I get and go from there.

two adults (41 and 42) - no kids, we had LAPLAPL
we were seated at a table for 6 with a single mom and her 9 year old - no one else ever showed

there were PLENTY of kids on this rotation --- 98% were very well behaved --- (only the toddlers had trouble sitting for so long)

it was AWFUL being in Parrot Cay in Tuxes and all dressed up --- and then the adult entertainment was 50's that nite - seemed more appropriate for a casual nite ---

did PALO on the second Parrot Cay nite ---
another disappointment
(will save that story for my 8/31/02 MAGIC Western trip report - a work in progress)

Ok, give us the quick rundown...inquiring minds are begging to know. A disappointing Palo experience? From reading these boards I didn't think that could happen.;)

long story short, our server was pulled from our table before we were done eating -- to take care of a MORE IMPORTANT large table in a back room --- plunked down our bill and marched off.

i was and still am disgusted and incensed!

i guess a VIP/repeat cruiser table is more important than my DH and myself --- guess what, we're going back to Celebrity ...

Well, there goes that servers tip, although, I suppose he was not sent away by his own choice, still...

I'll look forward to your trip report Hazmat. I hope the rest of the trip was memorable in a good way.

I think my plan for this virgin cruise, is to expect a few unexpected icky things, then if there are fewer than expected, I'll be ahead of the game. Think that'll work?
