Rotation confusion

I was looking on Barb's site and she has the first three nights (Eastern) listed as rotation dining and the last four nights as the "theme" nights. When we cruised three years ago, the theme nights were more mixed in.

What's the current rotation? I'm trying to figure out when to dine at Palos.

Thanks,
Tenya

The rotation is the same. On the 12-27-03 Eastern the theme nights were in the normal rotation dining rooms, on Sunday and Thursday nights as I recall.
Since this was a family vacation, we skipped Palo.

The first three nights feature the menus of the three restaurants. The last four are the theme nights--same in all the restaurants. You still do the rotation.

Thanks guys. But now I'm even more confused. One says theme nights are last four nights -- the other says Sunday and Thursday. Any other opinons?

I'm pretty sure the theme nights start on Tuesday. I'm having a hard time deciding which night to do Palo, the menus all look so good!!!

Not sure about eastern, but two weeks ago on the western, first three nights were rotational dining (each restaraunt serves their own menu, you rotate through all three restaurants & menus). Then last four nights the menus are identical no matter which restaurant you are in. We had formal night on Monday, so yes, though some consider this a theme, it was our regular rotational menu (we had AP), Thursday was Semi-formal and therefore EVERYONE got the lobster!!!!

Ok, so the first 3 nights are the regular menu from each restaurant. What about the 4 themed nights, does anybody know which order they go in? On Barb's site she has menus from 5/03 that show Tue-Around the World, Wed-Mexicali, Thu-Captains Gala and Fri- Best of the Master Chefs but on Dave's DCL Tribute site he has Tue-Best of the Master Chefs and Fri-Around the World. Anybody know which it is? I think we might skip Around the World and do Palo that night.

Thanks!

This comes from the passporter's field guide. Great book..hopefully its right:

Meals for the Eastern Cruise:

Semi Formal Dinner: Day 2
Formal Dinner : Day 6

Day 4 - Tropicali
Day 5- Around the World
Day 6- Captains Gala
Day 7- The Best of

Meals for the Western Cruise:

Semi Formal Dinner: Day 3
Formal: Day 6

Day 4-Around the World
Day 5-Mexicali
Day 6-Captains Gala
Day 7- The Best of

Your rotation tends to be based on your party.

All Adults: Lumier's/Tritons, Animators Palatte, Parrot Cay..repeat

Young Kids: Animators Palatte, Parrot Cay, Lumiers/Tritons,repeat

Older Kids: Parrot Cay, Lumieres/Tritons,Animators Palatte..repeat

You won't know you're rotation for sure until you get on the ship though from the way it sounds.

On our 5/1 Magic Eastern cruise Saturday, Sunday, Monday were rotational menu specific to the restaurant. Formal night was Sunday. Since we had APL rotation we had formal night in Parrot Cay. Tuesday was Tropicali night in all locations (tropical dress), Wednesday was Around the World, Thursday was Captain's Gala (We did Palo that night since we're not big seafood fans.) Friday was The Best of menu. I verified from our Navigators.

We had the Lumier's, Animators Palatte, Parrot Cay rotation and it is my least favorite one...I like Lumiers the least of all restaurants and I had to eat there three times LOL...BTW..it was 2 adults and 2 kids, one was only 4 so it doesn't always get based on who is in the party.

Don't know about the western, but the latest passporter is incorrect about formal and semi-formal nights. While they have the menus listed correctly, Sunday is formal night and Thursday is semi-formal.

Sorry, I meant to include that those nights apply to the Eastern, but I'm not sure if the Western is the same.

In case anyone is curious, formal nights are ALMOST ALWAYS 1st Sea Day and last Sea Day on the Magic. I've never found an exception, and I've been on a lot of cruises, all back to back to back. Now, the 14-day might be different, but this works for the 7 day.

So which night is it that you get the pics with the Capt?

A tip for anyone wanting the PLA rotation. I had called DCL to make sure our families would be able to sit together in the dining room. I just mentioned that Parrot Cay is my favorite and I'd like to request PLA. She said she had written it down and that we'd probably get it because it's the least requested rotation.
