Rose Garden being removed

but the only way Disney can remain the industry leader is through evolution and continued innovation. I know it's sad to see old things go away, but I really to think this project is needed.

Sidenote- I also hadn't thought about how hot it would there now, but I think that is absolutely true.

Nostalgia is also a key ingredient for Disney's success.

Yes it is not the entire moat just a part. The part you actually see. I have many pictures from crystal palace of the water in front of grass and castle. It made for a beautiful picture. The new moat area will not be viiewable from anywhere. Meaning no more seeing the moat with castle in the distance

As for nostalgia I agree. Part of what I loved about disney is the old time original stuff whether big or small. Wedway And CoP are still must dos for my family for nothing other than the old time disney feel. Love that. I am all for progress but you have to keep some f the old I feel like outside of PP there is very little the same as it was in 71. Things ate gone or updated to current times. Don't think jack sparrow takes away from pirates but there was no need for it other than it is current. My kids love Frozen but do t get me started in removing maelstrom for frozen ride. Lol Aside from rose garden being special to my wife an I because we got engaged there it was nice to sit and relax with the kids and have a Mickey bar. Just feel like MK is becoming more run run and no place to stop and smell the roses. For repeat vistors like us on these boards it is not always about rides

I agree that traffic was an issue but that is more to do with today's guest then space. I find more and more people feel the need to be less polite then in the past. Whether that means standing in the walkway, letting your kids climb all over off limit areas etc. In years past the outside portion of hub was for traffic. Now people just Stand there even if a CM asks them to move. They feel entitled to do what they want because they are paying for the experience. I was just showing my 9yr old pictures of the hub before the projection shows with all the trees. It looked so nice. Now we are removing even more grass an trees My concern with the new path is how long before people decide to start standing there to watch the fireworks and we are back to square one only we lost so much of what made disney magical.

kenny I have to agree with you, won't these new pathways just be more places for people to gather to watch the fireworks?

I definitely think that something needs to be done to ease the congestion with the parades and fireworks. It's just sad that they have to take away something so beautiful to do this.

So now you won't have to exit at the end of Main St?

The pictures don't make it look that bad in my opinion. The problem with nostalgia is that not everyone has been going for years many people are new visitors first time visitors. My first trip was in 2008. Cop did nothing for me old, outdated and a bit boring, won't attempt it again. Disney has a massive building that is never fully utilised and could be used changed to something else that will be. Space in the park is finite things have to go for others to be built and not everyone will be happy with what decisions are made. I am sorry you are sad though Kenny, I understand it holds special memories for you (the beautiful building I was married in was damaged beyond repair in the Christchurch, New Zealand earthquake, so I understand the sadness).

No I agree peoples comments that It is a park for everyone and not just the ones to at have being going for years/generations.

Maybe my opinion is jaded being a disney nerd,DVC, AP etc. while I still love disney my beige set upset is my feeling of shift in philosophy. I am for upgrades, new rides etc. just think that sometimes Disney is short sighted. If you look at all the rides built in the past 10 years or in construction now. When was the original ride. I want to say Soarin? Everything now is about a film character. While I love the disney movies to me personally the best rides at disney have or had nothing to do with characters or movies. Haunted mansion, BTMRR, space mountain, dinosaur, Soarin, pirates etc. even for as nice as new fantasyland is what did we really get? Two meet and greets, an copy of disneylands Ariel ride and the mine coaster. I am excited to see the mine coaster but thought hither rest was nice to look at but not terribly exciting, or new. Avatar land may be really cool but again another recycled idea.

I think disney lately is more concerned with the 1st timer or in frequent visitor. I get it. It is a business and You want to attract new business. The loyal customers are going to keep coming. Sort of like FP+. I can see the benefits for new visitors. Frequent visitors not so much. I used it in nov and outside of getting a FP for toy story without running at rope drop wasn't impressed. Too much planning and scheduling for those of us that frequent park. And not sure I think the AP rules are fair. Being a DVC owner is stay on property so my AP gets disney guest rules but everyone else that spent $500 on a pass to go often only gets a 30 day booking window but the 1st timer staying on site for a few days to never return gets to book 60?

I am sure disney will make the new area look good they usually do just sad to see so many things leaving lately without many WOW's coming back. As I noted given people's nature I can see in time the new walk area just becoming the new standing the way the hub became a log jam the past few years. Also you can build all the new paths you want but isn't the number turnstiles staying the same? You still have a log jam you just shifted it to another spot? Should we demolish town square to make more exits? Just kidding

Ok off my soap box

While I am sure the hub will look nice when it is completed and I am usually all for Disney upgrades, my heart completely broke when I saw that they will be removing the rose garden......It's because for us it's such a sentimental place because back in 2006 DH proposed to me there during Wishes.... So every trip we have taken since then (9 in total) we always go back there and enjoy the garden and take a photo there....So this really breaks my heart that our special place won't be there anymore once this is complete... I guess we will need to spend extra time there on our upcoming trips.

What do you mean. Wasn't the haunted mansion based on the Eddie Murphy movie?

Oh no, the HM ride is MUCH older than that movie. The DL version of HM opened in 1969. The WDW MK version of the ride opened in 1971.

PoTC ride was also in place for years prior to Disney leveraging it into a film property. It opened in 1967 at DL and 1973 (WDW MK).

It wasn't until sometime in the '90s that someone(s) at Disney thought about turning some of the theme park IPs into films.

hahaha sorry, I was totally being sarcastic!

As someone who has been stuck without being able to move six inches in either direction while trying to get through the Hub during the fireworks, thank goodness they have finally done something about it!
One of my most anxiety filled moments at WDW was being in that Hub during Wishes at Christmastime. Couldn't move an inch, it was a real madhouse.

Thanks! It's not great but not nearly as bad as I feared.

Yeah I opened the before and after in separate tabs and then toggled back and forth between them. It doesn't seem as bad as I thought.
