In order to try and get a table on the patio and still be there when Illuminations begins, what time reservation do you think I should request

My thinking is that if my resrvation was for 7:15, I may have to wat for a patio table to come free, so may get seated and have placed orders at 7:45. By the time desserts are eaten and after dinner drinks ordered, then I guess that would be about 9pm - just as Illuminations begins?

Will this work, or do I need to make a ressie earlier/later?

Rose & Crown no longer allows you to wait for a patio table. The last two times we've been there we had an ADR for around 7:15pm. Both time we asked to wait for a patio table and was told they would try, but that we had to take the next available table for our party size. Once we got a patio table and once we did not.

Yes they definitely will not let you wait for a patio table. You have to take the next available table.

We were very lucky and managed to get a patio table twice! The last time was on the 4th of July so I was so happy. They do have a viewing area though, and if you don't get a patio table you can ask your server and they will take you to the viewing area of Illuminations. That was my back up plan for July 4th.

and going back this year. This is my must-have ADR. We were able to get the patio last year, the year before not. But both times we had a terrific view of Illuminations. The waitstaff is very accomodating as they know they have the prime viewing area (did the Illuminations cruise once & the view doesn't come CLOSE to R & C in my opinion!!!) We get ressies for about 7:45 & are usually just getting to dessert @ 9.

I read that R&C still allows smoking. Is that true? If so, is it in the pub or in the whole place?

If you don't have a patio table, do they allow you to go onto the patio to watch the show? How long does the show last?

We were there in July with a 7:35p reservation. Had dinner inside leisurely, then ordered dessert, went to a roped-off area on the patio to watch illuminations, then came back in for dessert. They do it all the time.

I was able to get a 7:55PM ADR, is there a definite place to view Illuminations from the RnC??

The roped off area is sometimes available but at other times there are private parties that rent out the section. Once when we were there (we got a patio seat for Illuminations) the roped off section was filled with a wedding party dinner. Another time there was some other (corporate?) event and that area was filled.

So, if that section is open the night you are there, you may be able to stand there and view Illuminations. But don't be surprised if some group has paid for and reserved that section.
