I'm closing in on my 180 day mark and just have a few questions please...

ROSE & CROWN: Opinions on recent dining experiences for dinner? I was only there once and that was quite a few years ago and the food tasted like it had freezer burn...it wasn't my favorite meal. But I know things change at Disney and what wasn't good years back, may be great now. So anyone have any recent experiences here?

T-REX & RAINFOREST: I'm planning on going to each of these places for lunch (I know they're not on the DDP, that's OK). I think my son will like them. For Rainforest I'm planning on going to the one in AK on a day AK is listed on touring guide as being the least crowded park and the overall crowd rating is 4.

Do you think I need reservations? I'm going Labor Day week and I'm thinking since there's a good chance that there will be free dining these restaurants may not be as busy as more people are going to restaurants on DDP and I was thinking we'd go for an early lunch (11:30-12). I would prefer not to make reservations to allow for some felxability. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Just ate at Rose and Crown a few weeks ago and we all enjoyed our meals. I had the Grilled Pork Loin, my gf had the pot pie and my DD had the Sunday Roast. The Sunday Roast was a tad salty but we all enjoyed our meals and the dessert (chocolate cake) was delicioso! :) (I just put a pic of the dessert in the food pic thread)

As for T-Rex/Rainforest...I have no desire to actually dine there. My DD and I did RFC a few years ago and it was way overpriced and almost disgusting food.

Can't answer about Rose n' Crown. My dds 8,5 liked Rainforest over T-Rex. If your child is into dinosaurs, then T-Rex will be awesome. Rainforest has elephants, gorillas, etc. As for the food, it has been hit or miss at Rainforest at WDW. Sometimes, it is great and other times, average. The food at T-Rex was decent, but not special. The Rainforest in Nashville has had consistently better food. With that said, dd 5 loves Rainforest, so we will still go at WDW. As for reservation, it might be better to make one so you do not have to worry about waiting. Or, you can join the Safari club and get priority seating.

We had dinner at R&C a few weeks ago. We didn't have the best lunch experience when we went 5 years ago, but thought we would give it a shot. Had 7:15 reservations and got an outside table. DW had the vegitarian sheppards pie and thought it was tremendous. I had the fish and chips which were great for fish and chips. Service was wonderful and our two girls (4 and 1) loved it too. This experience really turned our opinion of R&C around.

We also ate at T-Rex that trip. This is definitely the place if you have kids who like to be loud. We had a great time, best waiter of our trip, he took great care of us. And the portions are huge.

I think the food is better at T-Rex over Rainforest, we also have been to Rainforest quite a few times so the new atmosphere was great.

My last visit was in November. I thought Rose & Crown was delicious. The Sticky Toffee Pudding doesn't look or sound like much, but it tastes amazing!

We enjoyed RFC at WDW 5 years ago. Ate in a local RFC recently and it was absolutely disgusting, we could not eat the food. Was at WDW last week and had dinner at T-Rex and really enjoyed it. Much better then expected. My salad was really very good and dessert was so yummy. Also we found the meteor shower at T-Rex was less scary then the thunderstorm at RFC for our 4 yr old.

If you stay with odd times for eating I do not think you would have a problem getting in for lunch.

Thanks for the input...maybe we will consider Rose & Crown - I know DH would like to try one of the beers. If not table service - maybe CS for the Fish n Chips.

I'm considering RC and T-Rex mostly for the atmosphere for my son - I think he will like both. He's 3 and can get restless at restaurants so the more for him to see and the louder - the better. Right now chicken tenders and hot dogs are his favorite...and looking at the menus it looks like good choices for adults for lunch.

I think I'll take a risk and not make reservations for T-Rex - that's our DTD relax & shop moring so I figure I can always go to T-rex around 11am or so to see what the wait was like and if it's long put our name in...I'll make ressies for RC as that's an AK day and I think it's easier when you're in a park to have ressies.

Thanks

We'd go to T-rex over Rainforest anyday. DD loved Rainforest because of the animals, but the food at Trex was 100 times better.

OOOH I have to agree!!!!!! The Sticky Toffee Pudding is SOOOOO yummy :lovestruc

I definitely agree that T-Rex was better than RFC. I actually thought the food was pretty good there (especially the Meteor Bites). Both of our children loved it (especially DS who was 5 at the time).
