I read somewhere that this is the only restaurant in WDW where people can smoke. Were they referring to the restaurant or the pub? We have an ADR at the restaurant and my DH is very anti-smoking. He would pitch a fit if we were seated near a smoking section in a restaurant before they made restaurants smoke free in NY. I would like to know ahead of time if the restaurant allows smoking, so that I can avoid ending up being the subject of a post on the "Have you ever had a shock?" thread. If they do allow it, do they have a non smoking section? Or will it help to request an outside table?

Thank you!!!

Florida is smokefree as well, thankfully, though there are some exceptions for bars. The restaurant itself is completely smoke-free. We've never had the experience of anyone smoking in the pub, and we're there almost every weekend.

All WDW restaurants are supposed to be non-smoking. R&C does have outside dining, though. Perhaps you are allowed to smoke if you are seated at an outside table.

Why not call Disney Dining and ask them the question?

Best wishes -

As far as I know, Disney's smoking policy is very clear. Designated areas only. I find it hard to believe that inside a restaurant, or even outside on the terrace, is one of them.

Disney has become VERY LAX (hello, Disney, are you listening?!) in enforcing these rules, much to my HUGE disappointment. I agree with your other half. I come to Disney so I don't have to breathe it, and my son has asthma, so I am even more militant. I suspect that the Europeans, who smoke anywhere and everywhere, probably think that it is an acceptable practice. I have taken to reminding people not to smoke where they aren't supposed to. Some are apologetic and some are downright rude in their responses. Tough - rules are rules. And the majority of people don't smoke. I am a former smoker, and I chose not to smoke for a reason and am so much happier for it. Disney has done its level best to accommodate everyone, but people don't listen. This is not a rant because I am some pain in the >>> prima donna about smoking. It's a freakin' health issue, people! Smokers don't have the right to give me lung cancer or put my son in the hospital. It's really bad at the water parks. Yuk.

Don't even get me going on this subject!!! Okay, I'm done. I am getting off my soapbox now.

Thats why we we dont holiday in Europe like other Brits. I cant stand smoke. A trip to DLP was bad enough people smoking everywhere! :crazy2:

So glad to hear that our fellow Brits feel as we do! Kudos to you.

Being European I think you may have made a bit of a generalization re smoking. There are parts of Eastern Europe and the Med which have high smoking levels, but in Britain and other Northern European countries we are as advanced as you there in the US. However, in the Rose & Crown Pub, it does reflect the fact that pubs (not all restaurants) in the UK still allow smoking or smoking area.

Cheers

OK, I really don't want to start a debate. The line about the water parks has me a bit concerned. We are smokers here. What are the rules about the water parks. I have not looked at a map to see if there are smoking areas at these parks, just assumed there were. We try to be very aware of rules and be polite as this is our choice, not everyone elses. What is the situation with the water parks?

Yes, there ARE designated smoking areas in the water parks. I can't tell you exactly where, it's been a while since I've been to one, but in TL if you head around to the right after you walk in, past the towel rental etc but before Shark's Reef, there's a large sandy area on the side of the path away from the Lagoon.

The Rose and Crown pub has no smoking signs all over the place. Florida law does not permit smoking in restaurants. The pub and the restaurant are joined, so the rules are doubtless the same for both.
