We have dinner reservations for Rose and Crown in June. As far as seating goes, it is our preference to sit out on the back overlooking the water. When I made the ADR, the cast member told me that she could not take seating requests. I assume when I arrive I can make this request. We have a party of 8, so I am not sure if that will be possible without breaking up our party. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to obtain our prefered seating? Can we call the restaraunt in advance? Any advice would be welcome

As far as I remember you can't even request patio seating upon arrival anymore. It used to work if you said you'd wait until it was available but I think they've even stopped that. With a party that big you would probably be waiting way too long to chance that.

When we ate there last May, there was a sign on the podium that said "we can not take seating requests." So you can try but don't expect to be successful. Of course you could get lucky. From what I have read here, when Illuminations starts, everyone is invited to go out on the deck. We were seated on the back deck but it was long before Illuminations. Good lock.

We ate there in December - just before Illuminations they invited everyone to head to the viewing area. Our server held our table and served dessert when we returned.

Because of the popularity of the outdoor seating for Illuminations, Rose and Crown makes a blanket "no seating request" stand. If you are looking for patio seating during Illuminations, you won't be able to request that but take whatever is available.

However, you never mentioned Illuminations in your post. Rest assured that with your party of eight, you will be seated as close together if not all together as possible. The inside seating is somewhat crowded so the outdoor might even be what the restaurant prefers. I'd just wait and see what is offered and then talk to the host or hostess about being together.

1) You cannot make reservation requests via phone.
2) You cannot make reservation requests in person.
3) You MUST take what is available when your name is called.
4) In fact, this is pointed out when you get to the podium.
5) When asked if you will take any seat, you must agree.
6) If not, your ressie is canceled.
7) I think it is a great policy.

NOTE: This policy is an answer to the many people walking away when their name was called and they couldn't get a patio seat. Then, a table went unclaimed and the eatery lost revenue.
