Rose & Crown OR La Hacienda De San Angel for dinner/illuminations?

We have not been to either...right now, we have Rose & Crown booked, but I am afraid that DH won't be into the menu....If I get positive feedback, I will leave it! If not, I will try to get La Hacienda....Illuminations can be viewed from LA Hacienda as well right? Thanks!

I'd keep Rose & Crown for Illuminations--better view even if you don't get an outside table (they'll let you go outside during Illuminations)

While you can see Illum. from La Hacienda there's actually only a few tables right by the windows so takes a lot of pixie dust & perfect timing to get one of the at-the-window-tables. You can see out the windows from the other tables in that section but it's not a fabulous view. And if you get sat in the other part of the restaurant, you'll have no view at all. They will let you get up and go stand in the other part during Illum. but then obviously you have to stand at the back so the view is: across the restaurant, through the windows...and you're looking over/through tables of people of course. It's OK, but you can get far better views just walking around the World Showcase.

I recommend Rose and Crown. They have a special viewing area on the patio that all the guests can enjoy even if you aren't seated on the patio. La Hacienda doesn't have an outside viewing area so you would have to have a window seat to really see. The last time we ate there we were seated in a room to the side of the main room and there weren't any windows.

Also, I like the food better at Rose and Crown.

R&C. We've done both and R&C offered a better viewing spot, IMO. We couldn't see the show at all, from our seats at La Hacienda.

However, try to get to LH if you like margaritas. They have an awesome margarita flight which I don't think you can get elsewhere on property.

We have been to both and like the others have said, no question R & C for the view (even though we had a direct window table at La Hacienda). My husband's favorite food is mexican, but he didn't care for La Hacienda. He loves the fish & chips and cheese plate appetizer at Rose & Crown.

We are trying R&C for New Year's Eve with a 10 pm ressie. I really hope we're allowed to go somewhere to watch the NYE fireworks, whether it's the patio or this mysterious special viewing area I keep hearing about.

But - as a PP poster said, you are in no way guaranteed a spot from which you can see Illuminations at La Hac. We tried to ask the person they sent us to (politely) at our ressie in March. They immediately said no guarantees. Ok, fine. The next 2 couples after us didn't ask, as far as I could tell. They finally sat us at the far end of the place. There was an empty table for 2 right by the window, just a couple tables away from ours. I asked if we could sit there and she asked over her earphone, but they said no, the next couple was already being sent to that table. Ok . . . so? We still had the earlier (slightly) ressie and were seated first. And I'd asked. And if the hostesses can all talk to each other, then just switch that couple. I would technically think it should be first come, first served. The next couple (once I saw them) had not asked for a window seat (this was pretty much confirmed when they were seated b/c I could overhear).

I just didn't understand the big deal about switching the tables, so I was doubly frustrated. We could see part of the show, but it wasn't the same.
