I've been trying to decide between Boma and the Rose & Crown. We will be at WDW in a week and I have priority seatings scheduled for:

Restaurant Marrakesh-Dinner
The Liberty Tree Tavern-Dinner
The Garden Grill-Dinner
Cape May Buffet-Dinner
Jiko-Dinner
Le Cellier-Dinner
The Flying Fish-Dinner
Hollywood & Vine-Fantasmic Dinner
Chefs de France-Lunch
The Rose and Crown-Dinner
Kona Cafe-Breakfast

My Rose and Crown reservation is for 8pm...so that we could watch illuminations. But that may be too late to eat for us. I've also read that the food at the Rose & Crown is just so-so. I also have a peanut allergy and heard that peanuts are snack food at the Rose & Crown and maybe on the buffet at Boma? Any opinions? I'd appreciate any suggestions.

We ate at Boma's for the first time last night-- I am a failry adventurous eater-- and I like good food. We were not impressed. In fact, as a last resort I tried the peanut butter and Jelly sandwhiches and didn't even like those. They did have a great selection of fresh fruit and salad. The various hummus and couscous were good. As for your question about peanuts, several dishes did have peanuts inlcluding stickey peanut rice. After years of rave reviews, we were disappointed. I haven't been to the Rose and Crown though...

Good luck-- looks like you'll be eating at lots of yummy places!

The Rose & Crown is always a must do on our list. DH is British and loves this little taste of home--granted, he's lived over here for 25 years so it may just be the accents of the servers that make him feel at home. The bangers and mash are delish. The trifle is pretty yummy, too. Actually, we've always enjoyed every meal there--except DH and DD skip the Stilton on the cheese plate because, as DD says, it tastes like feet. More for me, I say!

I've never eaten at Boma--with a picky 13 yo, I figure we'll have to wait awhile on that one.

We enjoy Rose and Crown and have never been to Boma. If you call before hand and speak with the Chef, you can tell him about your peanut allergy. The Chefs at Disney are good about trying to accomodate allergies.

We have been to both of these restaurants and both are very, very good. They are very different--BOMA is a buffet --loud/noisy, etc. The food is different, but excellent! Rose & Crown is more of a quite sit-down restaurant -- but the food is also very good. IF you go to Rose/Crown try a 7:30 or 7:45 reservation so that you can see Illuminations. Try looking at the menus to see which one looks better.

I too have been to both - its like comparing apples and oranges, totally different experiences.

I tried Rose & Crown for the first time on a recent trip. The menu didn't thrill me - I tried it primarily because I wanted to try for an outside seat for illuminations (it didn't work). However, I was really pleasantly surprised. I had a prime rib that was excellent (though I think it's no longer on the menu) while others in my party had fish and chips and cottage pies. Everyone really liked it. EXTREMELY friendly and attentive servers too. I am planning to go back in November.

That being said - Boma would be still be my preference; I thought it had a lot of interesting choices that you don't see on a normal buffet (hummus, interesting soups and salads) as well as traditional items like chicken and roast beef. Always seems to be crowded (and a bit loud). If you've never been to AKL it's a good chance to check out the resort.

Tough choice, both spots are on our must do list! My DH has a serious peanut allergy and the staff at the Boma were wonderful and the buffet is clearly marked about which items contain any kind of nuts. Plus they will plate items for you before dishes are put on the buffet (no cross contamination, if necessary). The Rose and Crown staff was also great about checking dishes and frying oil for us. Either place is a great choice for dinner. If you choose the Boma checkout storytelling at Arusha Rock, before you make your PS.

Thank you everyone! I'm going to keep my 8pm PS at Rose & Crown. And since we're going to Jiko one evening, that will give us a chance to dine at AKL.

We like both of those places. Since you're going to R&C may I recommend the pie sampler? They are soooo good, and filling!
Imagine our American pot pies only much more delicious. I love fish and chips too, but the time I had it for dinner at R&C the coating on the fish was soggy:( The f&c at the take away shop next door to R&C are really good::yes::

Sounds delicious Micca! Has anyone ever ordered the Roast Chicken or the Rib Eye at Rose & Crown and did you like it?

I haven't eaten at Boma, but the R&C is definitely one of my favoriate places to eat...especially if you are able to get a PS to be there during Illuminations.

Been to both, and I would choose Boma in a heartbeat - especially since you have 4 WS restaraunts planned! It's a must do for us.

Oh, but I just paid attention and saw that you are going to Jiko.

I think you will be just fine staying at R&C, and now you have something new to try on the next trip! :D

We recently had the best time at Rose and Crown. We had PS for 7:15 and were seated outside. We were told by our wonderful server Ashleigh that we could stay there through illuminations. It was the best view we ever had for a show. The food was very good. I had the pie sampler and my DS had the fish and chips. Both were hot and very tasty. The only disappointment was the children's pizza. They hated it and we reordered the pasta. It was a fantastic night and was without a doubt the best service we ever had at Disney. I would return there without hesitation.
