I have dinner reservations at the Rose & Crown at 7:15. Illuminations starts at 9. I have heard that this restaurant offers patio seating, which offers great views of the fireworks. How do I go about getting one of those tables, and if I cannot get one of these tables, where should I go to see Illuminations?

Also, how is the food/atomosphere at this restaurant?

We ate there in June 07. It was storming that evening so there was no patio seating. However, we told our lovely waitress that we were interested in viewing Illuminations after our meal. No problem. After eating, the tables on the patio were still covered with water so she lead us to a roped off area where we could stand. Awesome view!:flower3:

You can ask for, but are not guaranteed, one of the patio tables.

There are many, many great spots around the World Showcase lagoon from which to view Illuminations. Various people will tell you their favorite spots and will insist their spot is better than anywhere else. The reality, however, is that any spot where your view is not actively blocked by a tree or a structure is as good as any other spot. So, don't stress out about getting an outdoor table at Rose & Crown. Just enjoy your meal and after dinner, head out around the lagoon, find an open spot and enjoy the show!

Thanks! As long as I get to see Illuminations I will be fine. I have been to Disney more than 20 times, and have NEVER seen it!

ask - if it's available you'll get it. It's not the best place to see Illumination though.

Several place - the islands between UK & France (they're closed a lot though) between the gift shops near the entrance to WS from FW, anyplace around the lake that doesn't have overhead tree cover.

I've read other places that while you cannot request a patio table when you make your reservation, you can request one when you check in. If you are willing to wait for one, you will most likely get it.

We have 7:20PM reservations, and we plan on trying this as well. I think it would make the dinner so much more magical if we are viewing such a lovely show during the meal.

Good luck to you!

I requested one of these, we were not a large party and still were told no. We even asked if we could wait and were told no.

We did go out to the patio to watch but it was claustrophobic and I cant imagine a child being able to see unless you are quick to get out there and have them up front....we were 3 people deep with people breathing over our shoulders.

I wont try again....the service was excellent but the food isnt really my familys type of food.....

I noticed a patio off to the side that people were just sitting in.......no food or anything. If you get there early enough I guess you could sit in there, some of them were right against the wall. Does anyone know about them? Although if people were to enter this area (its through a small gate) and just stand there blocking your view I dont know if there is anything you would be able to do about it.

You used to be able to request a patio table when you check in and say you'd wait, however they no longer allow that. They will tell you when you check in that they'll put the request in, but that you must accept the first table available for your party size. The first several times we ate at Rose & Crown we were able to wait for a patio table, but the last two times they made us take a table inside. They said either that or lose the ADR. We were very polite with our request to wait, but they were very firm in not allowing it.

I have also heard that they no longer will honor requests for the patio. In 2007 when we visited they were starting this policy but we were fortunate to get a patio table for the July 4th Illuminations. I think the only reason that we actually got it was that they gave us our beepy thing to call us back when table ready (very technical verbage) & forgot to tell us it wouldn't work in the shops nearby. We missed our call back & the gentleman with an American accent wasn't going to seat us but we were so upset a nice lady with a lovely Irish accent seated us anyway & gave us a front row seat.

We were grateful & glad that we had the experience but it was actually a little too close for our taste. You couldn't get the entire experience as you can when you aren't so close. Also the fireworks seemed a bit too close for all of us!

1) You used to be able to wait.
2) But, if a patio table was not granted, many people walked off.
3) Thus, the restaurant lost business.
4) Now, you must agree that you will take the first table available.
5) Or, they can cancel your ressie.

For folks wondering what the odds are: We've been lucky enough to get terrace seating three times out of the last seven visits, so just a little less than 50/50.

It's just DH and I, so I'm hoping the can accommodate just the two of us sitting outside.

I don't think there is any advantage to be one party size versus the other (though surely if you are more than four people, the chances of getting a table out front is really really small). During those seven visits, we were a couple four times, parties of four twice, and a party of six once.
