Does anyone know if you can view Illuminations from this restaurant? My sister in law is joining us this year and she has a bad hip. I thought it would be nice to have a late dinner where we can also view the fireworks while sitting so she can be a bit more comfortable. Normally, my family would just pull up a spot along the railing and cop a squat. My sister in law cannot physically do this.

You can request an outdoor table on the patio, but it is not guaranteed that you will get one.

I've never done this, and I'm not sure what would be a good ADR time to be able to snag an outdoor table for Illuminations, maybe 7 PM?

It's going to be very tough for your SIL to navigate the parks with a bad hip. The walk to Rose & Crown from the front gate is easy for a "normal" person, but if someone is disabled, that's quite a hike. May I suggest that she look into renting a scooter? That way, you can still "cop a squat" at the railing and she will be comfortable.

Yes and no...some of the tables on the patio have an excellent view of IllumiNations, but most reports indicate that they do not allow you to request and wait for a patio table anymore.

There is a reserved viewing area for R&C patrons located to the left of the restaurant. It has an excellent view, but there is no seating in that area.

We have actually thought about renting a scooter for her. This may be our best option. Thanks.

Thanks. We may just rent a scooter. Perhaps we can still have dinner there and move over to the reserved viewing area.

A few years back when we brought my mom with us who was also disabled, Epcot had a designated area this purpose. Do you know if they still offer this?

I do believe there is a wheelchair area for watching Illuminations. Maybe head over to the disability board for some help?

I agree it is a lot of walking. My friend's husband had health issues and rented a scooter years ago (he didn't need one at home, but with all the walking it saved their trip). I can easily walk 8 miles at Epcot. A scooter can help so much.

When I was there in January, we requested a fireworks view table for our reservation but they couldn't do it so we had to be seated inside but they do have a special area where they will let Rose and Crown guests watch the fireworks. It's not watching the fireworks from your table but its still a place to watch them and not worry about getting there really early to take your place. Just be sure to ask your waitress/waiter and they will walk you to the viewing area.

There are some patio tables with great views of Illuminations, but everyone wants and requests one. They no longer allow you to request and wait for these tables. So it is the luck of the draw.
But as PP stated, they have a private, outdoor viewing area for restaurant only patrons. Tell your server you wish to view Illuminations and they will escort you there. It is standing only, but you could go just before Illuminations started, reducing the standing time, if that would work for your SIL.
We usually try to book an ADR for 7:45 when we want to see ILluminations. 7 PM is too early IMO.
Good Luck

Tell the waitstaff you wish to see Illuminations. They will come get you to move to the viewing area, even if you are still eating! A 7:45p ADR works well.

Good Idea! Didn't think of the disability board. Thanks!

I see everyone pretty much has the same info, so I'll go with it. Thanks everyone. I just want to make this trip as easy as possible for her. On top of health issues, she just lost her husband (my DH's brother) suddenly so the last thing she needs is more stress.

We did this last July. Illuminations was at 9pm and I think our ADR was for 7:30. It was earlier than I wanted, but our plan was:
a) If it's a good table, eat slow, order apps, desserts, etc.
b) If it's a bad table, eat quick, and go watch Illuminations.

After experiencing, (we had an awesome table!) they were sooooo slow, we were there for a whole hour after the show ended, so no trouble there. People who were sitting inside walked outside to watch the fireworks within the restaurant.

I would highly recommend trying.

One thought, what if Illuminations begins while you are still eating? If you have a bad table, can you go watch the show at the reserved area and then return to your meal?

Yes, if you are seated inside or at a patio table without a view let your server know you want to see IllumiNations and they will pace your meal. Just before the fireworks, remind your server and they will take you to the outside viewing area that is adjacent to the patio. We have ordered dessert, then watched IllumiNations and then returned to finish our dinner.
