Is 7:25 PM reservation too early for Rose and Crown to see Illuminations? It was the only available time open for our group of 5 adults. I grabbed it since it was the only time available between 6:30 and 9 on May 2, 2016.

I think it may compromise your ability to get a patio seat. But you will not know for sure until you have checked in.

Would you suggest asking to wait for a patio seat when we check in? Is there a place for the inside diners to move to stand when the show starts? I thought I read that somewhere?

You can ask for a patio seat, but if they don't have one available they won't let you wait for one. The place for guests to stand to watch the show is outside.

There is a viewing deck for inside diners. I've also read on here about someone who had a 7:20 ressie, asked to wait for a patio table and got a great view of IllumiNations.
We were going to do this, had a 7:25 ADR ourselves, but I decided to FP IllumiNations instead since it's our first time seeing it and we had the FP to use.
Based on everything I've read about it, I think you've got a pretty good time there!

Recently Disney has decided to no longer allow guests to wait for tables with a fireworks view. Apparently more people were asking than could be accommodated. You can always ask, but if they don't have a table with a view available you have to take the table they have ready.

Thanks for your replies. I guess we'll play it by ear when we get there. If we get a patio seat, great! If not, I'm content to view Illuminations from the viewing deck. We've seen Illuminations several times and we're looking forward to eating at Rose and Crown for the first time. I'm thinking with appetizers, dinner, dessert and drinks we might make it to 9 PM. We're not "wolf it down and run" people anyway.

We typically have a reservation at 7:20. We arrive early, request a patio seat, and let them know we don’t mind waiting if we have to. We have never had an issue, but as a PP said, there is an outside viewing area for inside diners. We have never completed our meal and paid our bill before Illuminations ended- even without having appetizers. We enjoy going there, and love the view!

Great info, thanks!
Like I mentioned, we've seen Illuminations several times and we like the idea of a relaxing meal and non-rushed/non-crushed Illuminations experience. We ate at Spice Road Table this past May for Illuminations and really loved the experience and have been looking forward to R&C this upcoming trip.

Make sure you let your server know you are planning to watch Illuminations- wherever you are seated- and they will also help pace out the meal a bit. Enjoy!

We just ate at R&C in August and also had a 7:25 pm ADR. We were given the perfect table on the patio for watching Illuminations and my youngest DD was even asked to "start" the show that night. It might have also helped that she was wearing an awesome Illuminations dress that lit up. :smooth:

I've heard that sometimes they will still let you wait for a table on the patio, but you could also end up with them telling you that you have to take first available no matter where it is. At any rate, you shouldn't expect to be given a patio table.
