just wondering how good the veiw is at the rose and crown pub for illuminations and how do i get a spot there to see it?

The view is amazing from Rose and Crown. We made dining reservations for 7:30 and told our waitress that we would like to watch the show at 9:00. No problem, when we were done eating at about 8:45 she lead us to a roped off area of the terrace, just the 4 of us. Awesome!:flower3:

Great! I'm kinda hoping for the same thing whe I'm there in mid-March. i also made a ressie at 7:30pm.

If your ressies are for 7:30 I would still get there around 6:30 or 7:00 and wait. There is a limited number of tables on the balcony for Illuminations viewing. Better safe then sorry.

Good luck!

We attempted this in August with our 4 kids. We finished dinner just in time to walk outside an view the fireworks. They packed, and I mean packed, us into this little tiny area to view the fireworks. The kids couldn't see a thing because there were adults in front of them. We would have been better off elsewhere around World Showcase.

We've done the outside seating for Illuminations and ended up with the back table of the four rows of outside seating lagoon side. quite honestly, I would rather eat early and find my favorite spot (close to the Grand Marnier slushie stand!). The view was nice - but that far back, we lost the top 1/3 of the fireworks and the music was horrible!! No speakers, so you heard bouncy echos from around the lagoon...

Surprisingly, some of the seats on the patio are not so great. We were sat up against the building, under an awning, and couldn't see much (because the awning blocked our view). We had to get up and stand at the railing to see everything.

If you don't get seated with a view don't worry about it they will escort you to a special area on the patio. I have done it a few times and have never seein it so crowded like the PP said. Each waiter gets a table so it isnt' too bad.

We did the rose and crown last trip and requested to sit outside.. the hostess told us about how its first come first serve and your not guarenteed seating for our meal.. but that we could request a table in the special roped off area that the rose and crown has..

of course we were seated inside :(.. we immediately told our waiter that we wanted to see illuminations and he said no problem.. you can have dinner and i'll get you a table outside and we could your desserts and drinks outside

well waiter was excellent throughout the meal.. and food was very good.. however.. around 8:50pm-8:55pm (illuminations starting at 9).. we start to worry we weren't going to get a table (our waiter was sure we'd be just fine).. finally .. minutes before the show started... our waiter said he found us a great table and that we'd be "quite pleased" (in that fantastic british accent he had).. we were at that!! we got an amazing table!!

we did see a few people standing.. but honestly.. the show is so short I wouldnt even mind standing for it.. we'll do it again.. knowing that we might not get that fantastic table again.. but still.. it was a wonderful experience overall and we'll definitely be back...

the view from our table:

As long as you know its the luck of the draw.. you'll be okay! have a great trip!

Us too! We were the second table from being right up against the wall on the end of the restaurant. There is another tier of seating down below where we sat. If you sit there, you can probably see Illuminations really well.

Here's a picture of us sitting under the awning. The awning goes pretty far out. We ended up asking our waitress whether or not we would be able to see Illuminations. She said "some of it". They do offer a viewing area just for their patrons. It is located to the left of the restaurant and is roped off. We finished our meal and then stood in the roped off area. We were in the very front and could see everything.

THANK YOU! I thought there was something wrong with me. Everyone raves about the patio seating and there we were on the patio, and the awning obstructed a lot. I couldn't figure out why everyone wanted those seats.

BUT - our server offered to show us where the "viewing area" was and we could come back to our table after Illuminations for our dessert. So even if you don't have a good table for the show - they have a viewing area outside that people go to and then go back to their tables.

That happened to us too:sad2:
