I was just looking at the lunch menu & I thought it looks good. Anyway for anyone who has ever ate there before what did you think, did you like it yes or no & would you recommend it?

Personally I think it is over rated. I did not find the food very good, more a sort of non event. There are many better resturants to choose from. But, that is only my opinion :)

We had dinner there so we could watch Illuminations from their balcony. It was one of our better meals at WDW, which was a surprise since we ate at some really highly rated restaurants. There were 4 of us, including one child, and we all thought the food was excellent. We tried a number of different dishes and liked them all. This was also our most reasonably-priced sit down dinners of the trip. We'll definitely go back there next time we are at WDW.

my wife and i enjoy this restaurant very much. we have not had a bad dinner there yet. the staff is great fun to talk to and the food is very good. i recommend trying it. try to get a late dining reservation so you can enjoy illuminations. :thumbsup2

We have had so many great young CMs at R&C over the years....fun and lively. And lunch there is a delight as it is not as hectic as dinner.

We've always enjoyed the fruit and cheese plate as an appetizer. We actually preferred the fish and chips in the "old days" a bit more as there were 2 or 3 crispy pieces of fish instead of one large piece in which the breading is often soggy. But the fish itself has always been fine.

It is a real treat to have lunch overlooking the water sparkling around the World Showcase.

My Dad & I have seen their menu while in World Showcase & we were unsure about eating there. However after reading what you all have said I would not mind giving this place a try.

My veggie-loving spouse loved the curried veggies, and said it was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed the steak with yorkshire pudding. Service was attentive and helpful. The kids liked it as well. And we got to step out onto the quai and watch the fireworks between main course and dessert. Three *** for Rose and Crown!

Hi there, I made ADR's for Rose & Crown for the evening and I was curious... are they pretty good about letting you go outside to watch Illuminations? I made it for later at night so *hopefully* this would be an option. I know I can ask for a patio seat but and not guaranteed one. Any experience with this?
(sorry to change the subject OP)

About 30% of the tables have a view of Illuminations, and of course, everyone who eats there is aiming (sometimes pleading) for those tables. However, if you don't get one of those tables, they will suspend your dinner service when the show starts and let you stand at the back of the patio to watch the show.

I like the food at Rose and Crown. It's not Chefs de France, but it is still very good. The desserts are actually pretty incredible.

We enjoy Rose & Crown very much. We have dinner here on each trip. The atmosphere is beautiful, the CM's warm and friendly and the food is good, not great. It is not gourmet, but good.
Give it a try, I think you will like it.

Had both lunch and dinner there. Great view, eating dinner during Illuminations out on the deck but I rate the food as average. Dinner prices were not bad...fish and chips-->very greasey! Personally, would recommend eating elsewhere!

I believe Rose & Crown puts Chefs de France to shame. IMHO!

I have to give Rose and Crown an exceptionally large round of kudos for exceptional service and great authentic British fare.

I was amazed by the presentation of the cheese plate at Rose and Crown; each cheese was presented as a miniature work of art on a platter of three cheeses (great taste, authentic to England and artisan quality) and seasonal fruit, flatbreads were also served on the side.

As a comparison/contrast:

Chefs de France was such a disappointment; as a comparison, the cheese plate offered five cheeses (poor quality, average flavor and seemed to be mass produced) with a few grapes. Presentation of the French cheeses was poor also; five wedges put on a plate with little thought given to arrangement or eye appeal.

Service was also superior at Rose and Crown. We had a very attentive server who seemed glad to have us as her customer a 8:45pm. At Chefs de France, we were ignored and treated like carriers of some strain of infectious disease. When we voiced our concerns to the server, he informed us of how hard his day had been......excuse me, but I am a customer and that should never be mentioned to me. I digress!

As for dessert, I would be remiss if I neglected to recommend the toffee pudding......Yum Yum Yum. And the Guiness Chocolate Cake.....Yum Yum Yum. And the apple crisp..... Yum Yum Yum.
I think you get the picture!!!!

Go to Rose and Crown and enjoy a taste of the English countryside!

:thumbsup2

We LOVE Rose & Crown! It was our favorite meal last December! The service was fantastic! Our server was so sweet and friendly, plus very fast and attentive! The food was outstanding from appetizer to dessert! The sticky toffee pudding was a hit with us both!
