Rose and Crown and Illuminations

We have had excellent luck. We hardly ever decide on trips more than 3 months out, don't plan any of our days, only make PS's for things we definitley want, never fax room requests, and always get exactly what we could hope for. If you don't go looking for the magic it just happens, and you are hardly ever disapointed.

I just made PS's this afternoon for my trip to late October. I know they can't guarantee anything, but I asked the CM if he could put in a strong request for an outside table. He advised me that, not only can't they put any requests on the record, you can't even request it at the podium when checking in any longer. He did mention that it was a change in policy.

The one time I ate there before, we asked about an outside table, but were seated at the same time as another couple who got it and we didn't. We asked, but were told that there weren't any other tables and they didn't expect any would open up. We were told we could go out when the show started. Well, not 5 minutes later, a server came over and told us a table opened up. It was great, right on the railing! I've always half-suspected that they squeezed in an extra table for us, but I guess we just lucked out.

My PS this year is for a night when there is a MNSSHP at the MK, so maybe I'll get lucky again.

We had PS at Rose and Crown the 2nd week in June. I made the PS for 7:30 and arrived at check in at about 7:10. I was very sceptical about these times since Illuminations didn't start until 9:00 and WDW (nor my family) isn't known for leisurely dining. I pictured myself sitting at the table for over an hour drinking coffee after dinner waiting for the show. Anyway, our hostess also explained the "first-table-available-is-yours-even-if-you-want-outside" plan. We told her that we were happy to wait, but no go. We ate inside at a very crowded table (we were a party of 6 adults). When we were seated there were at least three empty tables on the patio that we would have fit at...but, oh well. We then felt rushed eating so we could get back outside to save a spot for Illuminations. It was a no win deal. In the future I think I'd stake out my spot for Illuminations about 1-1.5 hrs before the show, and send half our party to get fish and chips and beer and then leisurely picnic til the show starts. We ended up having an okay view (from the bridge) and Illuminations was still beautiful. NOTE: Don't forget the bug spray. The only time I got bit on the whole trip was during Illuminations and Fantasia...go figure
:p

When we ate there in June at our patio table on the railing - no one from inside came out to where we were were seated. Don't ask me why - we just continued to eat and enjoy the view. Also, there were Brits, but no ducks. It was all very enjoyable.

What happened to the new thing that they are doing at the R&C.
Heard that if you have an inside table that they will take you to
a new reserved section for the patrons sitting inside the R&C.

Has this been happening?
