Rose and Crown and Illuminations

We have tried many restaurants in WDW but this one we haven't tried - as we are from the UK, prefer to try others in the past but may try it this year for somewhere new. We prefer later dinner seatings anyway - is it true that there is a fireworks viewing area and do you have to request a certain table? Do you sit by the window to view or do people move outside to watch them? I also wondered what would be the best time to book an ADR?
Recommendations on the best things to eat there would also be good.

You cannot book a specific table. You can make the request at the time of your arrival at the restaurant. Your best bet would be to make an ADR at between 7:30-8:30. Illuminations is at 9:00. Try to check in early and ask for a table outside or lagoonside. Good Luck!!

We ate here on a whim one night w/ a last minute adr and were seated about an hour b4 the show. We asked if we coudl request seating outside and they said we just had to wait and see what ticket popped up w/ our assignment. We were VERY please when we got seated outside on the deck looking out at the water but still under an overhang (it was drizzling) adn had an AMAZING view.

We have eaten at the Rose & Crown several times and we always request a table outside when we check in. We have been successful about 30% of the time and I think that is good. It is a nice experience and a wonderful view. We enjoyed it totally.
If you are seated inside, at the time of Illuminations there is an outside viewing area where diners can stand and watch the show. The CM's will lead you there.
All that said, I am disappointed in the current menu. Many items have been removed and we are not planning on going again this fall. Take a look at the menu here on the DIS or at allearsnet.com.
