I have really red cheeks (ON MY FACE).

Has anyone tried Calm, cool, and collected?

This stuff did nothing for me. I only purchased one bottle. But haven't seen ANY improvement! $80

comments ? product recommendations

My dermatologist prescribed me metrogel and a very gentle medicated cleanser. It helped a lot! I still turn red if I drink red wine though.

I have rosacea pretty severely. At times my face is not only quite red but there's a lumpy cottage cheesy texture just beneath the skin..........and it CAN be quite uncomfortable as well.

I keep it under control with a low dose antibiotic. Topical products didn't work for me at all, and sometimes made it worse.

Good luck. Rosacea can be a tough one to figure out!!

I, too am on Metrogel plus a roll on lotion (antibiotic of some kind). I get flare ups if I get overheated, eat mexican food, etc.

I kept trying different cosmetics too. One (whose name escapes me) made especially for roscea seemed to make it worse. Then I tried Bobbie Brown cosmetics and rarely break out. Now I use her stuff all the time.

Here too, happy 30th birthday to me! The cold really makes mine flare up. My dermatologist gave me three creams to use... metro cream (which is the same active ingredient as metro gel), oxistat and desonide. There is new research that suggests that one cause of rosacea might be funga, hence the oxistat, and the desonide is to help with the redness (topical steroid). You should definiately see a doctor as I've read that the earlier you treat it, the better (if you wait, you may end up with what DisMN has.)

I also use Metrogel, twice a day (when I remember..:o ). It works well for me. :)

Happy 30th Birthday, Lisa F!! :)

You're so sweet! Today's not my birthday, I just started noticing symptoms right around then. I read that it seems to occur most often in women over 30 so I thought it was "funny" that as soon as I hit 30, bam! rosacea. :(

I just have some visible veins in my cheeks which makes my skin look pretty pink. I have not been diagnosed with Rosacea. I did start to see it more prominently after I turned 30!

I have it and it drives me nuts!! Cold weather really makes it flare up (another reason to move south;) :teeth: ) so it's worse for me thru the winter months.

Every now and then I take the antibiotic pill they give me but after awhile that causes others things so I have to stop taking it. I also use Metrogel but I don't really find that to work that well.

I got it when I was around 40.

I have it too  . I've never heard of Metrogel...what is it? My dr. prescribed a creme that is green to conceal the redness but it has medication in it. Mine is not too bad, I just have slightly rosy cheeks, but if you look really close you can see some capillaries. It flares up when I'm warm or if I'm embarassed.

Ok, before I start I just want to say, yes I am crazy.
My Rosacea first appeared when I was 27 and had my first child. It gets itchy and burns. I am not one to got to the Dr., I really don't like them and they end up costing you a fortune. Anyway, I read something that said zinc could help it(here comes the crazy part) and I thought diaper rash cream has zinc in it. So I tried putting a thin layer on before going to bed and when I work up the redness had gone down. I really did work, for me anyway. I know different things work on different people but I would much rather pay $3.00 for some diaper rash cream then hundreds from going to the Dr.

I have it and have had it since I was about 35 but was just diagnosed at almost 41. Be VERY careful about NOT getting treatment for this. I have not had any treatment and it is now affecting my eyes. Everytime your face flushes red you very slowly damage the oil glands in your face which includes the ones in your eyelids. Last February I started having pretty bad dry eye. It has taken by opthamologist months to determine it is rosacea (my rosacea is not very evident). I have been prescribed a low-dose antibiotic (doxycycline) which does not help the flushing but stop the damage to the oil glands.

Also, check out a website by Linda Sy (lindasy.com). She has a rosacea line of creams and cosmetics. She has a Zinco sunscreen that is very nice and is pretty much pure, invisible zinc. It is pricey but makes my skin feel good.

Hello, to all of my fair skinned Dissers!

I went to the dermatologist and she saw my Scottish maiden name. She said, "I see the Scottish name, I bet you have Rosacea."

I was put on Metrogel. I didn't think that it was working well for me so I stopped.

What I have found, by accident, that works great for me is Oil of Olay Regenerist lotion. Since I have been using it, I have rarely had a flare up.

I have a mild case of it. I switched to using only Jurlique skin care products a couple years ago and 90% of it cleared up. Also I get a sensitive skin facial every couple of months, which really helps.

ANd I listened to an esthetician's sage advice, no rose on rosacea, I make sure not to use any products with rose oils or frangrances in them.
