Got our Animal Kingdom day planned for April 1, which happens to be EMHs. I am planning to get a fast pass for FOP and I am wondering if we do rope drop would we be able to get on Na'vi River with having to wait in line for an hour? Should we get to the park an hour or so before opening, say 7-7:15 a.m.? I am guessing that there is a bigger demand for FOP at rope drop verses Na'vi River, or are they comparable?

Well the demand for FOP will definitely be much greater. If it’s during spring break time (which I’m assuming it is) then crowds will be higher and more people could be trying to rope drop for Pandora. I think your best bet would be to get there 30 minutes or so before opening just to be safe. Good luck :-)

You don't need to be there nearly as early as for FoP. Even riding FoP first and then heading to NRJ we only wait about 15 min in line. So, if you are there a bit before park opening (20 min. or so) you should be fine. You usually head more left in Pandora for NRJ than for FoP, which heads right.

Just to clarify; that's if you just want to ride NRJ at open, if you want to ride FoP, then an hour early is recommended.

Plan on having a fast pass for FOP, but I won't be able to make that during the EMHs, so I might just make it around noon as we leave out of the park for lunch. But I figured I would try to get in on the other at rope drop.

Then you'll be fine, I always get to any rope drop a bit early (again, about 20 minutes or so), as they tend to open the tapstiles early, so if I wanted to head to NRJ that's what I'd do.

30 minutes before RD is more than enough. And the only reason I say 30 is that they usually let people on the ride about 10-15 minutes early. Last trip (Jersey week) we entered the park about 8:30 and we rode Na'vi twice and got off the second time at 9:01.

Thank you for asking this :) I'm in the same situation (FOP FP later in the day) for the end of this month. We've never been since the opening

We actually arrived for an AK EMH (on a day which turned out to be an 8) 5 minutes AFTER park open and still basically walked on to Na'vi.

This past Oct we had a 9 am FP for FOP, got to AK at the opening, walked, not ran, to Pandora and walked on Navi, no wait at all. After that we did FoP then on to the Safari which had no worse a wait than we experience when we hustle there at RD. This will be our plan in the future.

Honestly, if you’re going to get up early to rope drop, I’d get there an hour early, RD FoP then do Na’vi. If you are there for FoP, you can get off then jump on Na’vi with little to no wait so long as you aren’t late and way back in the FoP line. I suggest this route for a couple reasons: 1. Na’vi isn’t really worth the effort of rope dropping (you can even get FPs pretty easily by refreshing) and 2. You’re almost certainly going to want to do FoP more than once. I was there in late November, got to AK at 8 for a 9 o’clock open, I was on FoP and off by 8:45. Walked over to Na’vi and waited zero minutes. Was in and off both basically as the parks “real” opening was happening. I had a later FP for FoP (around the time you mentioned) and did it as I left the park. The other beautiful thing about that approach is so many people go straight to Pandora even if they show up at 9 for a 9 o’clock opening that if you knock out both Pandora rides quickly, you can walk on to other stuff like Safari and EE. The day I’m talking about in November, I did FoP, Na’vi, KS, EE x 3, Dinosaur, Festival of the Lion King and then FoP again on the way out around noon.
