We will be in DL the 11th to the 17th this is our 6th trip I think and we have never been in line at opening.
What day would be best to try and do this and what time do you need to be there?
We have a 2 yr old and 4 yr old is it worth even being there at rope drop?
Oh we have annual passes so no MM.

Thank you

We are always there when the parks open, so in our experience (on a non-MM day), we get to the parks about 30 minutes before opening. They have let us in around 8:30 (for a 9:00 opening) onto Main Street with a rope drop at 9:00. I do recall people saying that sometimes they don't do this though and just let everyone in at park opening?

It is worth it to us to be there at rope drop. You can get a ton of rides done being there that early. :thumbsup2

Oh yes, it's definitely worth being there when the park first opens! It's especially worht it with a 2 yo and a 4 yo since I think it's harder for kids that age to wait in long lines. Even on a MM day, if you get there when the park first opens you'll have much shorter lines for the first few hours and you'll get a lot done. We try to get there about 30 minutes early but it's still worth it even if you arrive just as they're letting people in.

I agree with this. We are always there 30 minutes early even when the kids were very small, but they had no problems waiting since the excitment was driving them crazy.

The best day to do rope drop during your stay would be Wednesday the 14th, imo. Since the Park doesn't open until 9:00, they will likely let you onto Main Street beginning at 8:30. If you're at the gate a half hour or so before that, you should be able to be fairly close to the Hub at rope drop.

Tuesday & Thursday also have 9:00AM openings, but as those are Magic Mornings, the benefit you get from being there at rope drop will be less.

The other days are all 8:00AM openings. The gates will open at that time, without the early access to Main Street.

The non-MM days will be when you'll want to head to Fantasyland, so you absolutely want to be up front on those days! Gotta get in those lines first, so you get through them with the minimum of waiting.

On MM days, you won't want to head into FL, since all the lines will be full. But you still want to be among the first, b/c so much can be done in that first hour (especially while the MM people are stuck in their Tomorrowland and Fantasyland lines, LOL). Can go on Pooh 10 times in a row, that sort of thing. :)

Or on an MM day you could head over to be in the early line for DCA! It pretty much always opens its gates at 9:30, and being in line at 9 is not a bad idea. If the parents (and if the 4 year old is tall enough and wants to go) want to ride Soarin', that can be done with Rider Switch (baby swap, parent swap, etc) in that first half hour. Then you go to the rope and wait for Toy Story Midway Mania (er, you wait for the rope to drop at 10, and head to TSMM). Having accomplished that, play in bug's land to their heart's content! :goodvibes

Being early is never a bad idea (as long as you're not thinking of heading into Fantasyland after an MM). So much can be done in those first couple of hours...

Thank you so much for all the great info I think we are going to try and be early a few days.

Again thank you.

We always get there about 30 minutes prior to opening. Don't worry too much about MM. The lines may be a little bit longer, but nothing outragous. After an MM on Sundays, the line for PP has never been more than 10 minutes right after park opening and securing a locker. You could wiz through Fantasyland within an hour easily.
