What are the pros and cons to each choice? I'm planning to rope drop Adventure land and just pull a LL for Space Mountain later in the day but I see so many plans that suggest Space Mountain is the best way to go. I've also heard folks have good experiences starting at Indy. Thoughts? Personal experiences? Thanks!

Data suggests that both Space and Indy have similar average and mean wait times (45 minutes), but Space has a shorter wait time (5 minutes) than Indy (20 minutes) in the park’s opening hour. Hence why most touring plans go with Space first, since if you follow the data it will maximize your time and day. Of course that’s easier said than done!

In my experience Indy tends to be a bit slow to start running in the morning and is often quite a bit delayed…
So keep an eye on the app and crowd movement and have a Plan B if it’s not running yet…

Though, it’s great to rope drop if it’s open…

And for my game plan it often works out because my family loves the rides on that side of the park and if it’s closed we just walk right past to big thunder or so…

I rope drop space mountain at least once per trip and love it…It’s just a great way to start the day…

I voted Indy because it's closer to the rope drop, so if it's going to be down at opening you can pivot quickly to another ride. By the time you get all the way back to the Space Mountain entrance you'd really be behind the crowds if it's delayed.

Also to take into account: early entry is alternating days, meaning that unless you're staying at one of the 3 DL hotels, you'll be behind all the early entry people for Space Mountain plus the rest of Tomorrowland and Fantasyland.

Third thought: Space Mountain has been running a single-rider line much of the time lately, so if you want 2 rides on each attraction, you could do rope drop + LL for Indy and LL + SRL for Space.

That said they are both among my favorite DLR rides so you aren't wrong with either choice!

Indy seems to have too many delayed starts. Space Mountain line will continue to increase. Indy seems to still be good choice even in that 9-10am hour. Plus can look at its line in the lower basin. Lightning lane is what slows it down. Once inside the temple, all in same line.

I love all this insight! Thanks for taking the time. I think I'm just really trying to convince myself that it's okay to start with Indy .....and we will definitely pivot to Big Thunder or Pirates if it's down. I was thinking of pulling a lightning lane for it right away as well so that in case it is down we will get the MEP. And if we don't, then I can just modify it to something else later on :)

I agree with others - Indy can be spotty in the morning. IF it is up and running, it's a great choice. If it isn't, then Space would be better. Of course, you don't necessarily know if Indy is going to be up until you get over there, and sometimes even already in the line (I know I've wasted some precious rope drop time in the temple). It might be worth the risk though, and if it's not, just clear out most of the Adventureland side or just rush over to Sapce as the line shouldn't build up that fast.

We typically try Indy. We have been burned with it not open a time or two but it is worth it if it is. Good Luck! :thumbsup2

I'd go on Space, Matterhorn and then Indy. Indy lines is always around the same when its in the morning, normally 30 mins or less. Even if you rope drop it will take time to get on because of the Q and thats if its open
