Rope Drop "show"

Okay guys, we'll be at DLR a week from today (YAY!), and I have questions about the mornings. We won't be doing any extra hours as the majority of my group has military tickets and I have an AP (not going to do an AP preview alone when my family is with me). One of my favorite things is the morning opening show, when characters show up on the train and they dance and "sing".

After checking touringplans and other sites I see that every morning there is some sort of early entry at both parks. Will they still do a regular "show" at regular park opening time or should I resign myself to just walking into the park in the morning without fanfare?

We've only been to DL once, over Easter weekend in 2011. There was no opening show :sad2:. DH and I were pretty disheartened at the opening. They chose a "family of the day" who the let just inside the turnstyles, and had them count back from 10. THAT. WAS. IT. We liked a lot of other things about DL-- some of the rides were WAY better (like Peter Pan and Pirates), we loved being able to walk everywhere, and World of Color at DCA was really cool, but the park opening was definitely a let-down. --Katie

So they don't do a show at all any more? When we were there in July 2010 they did. I only made it to rope drop once on my last trip and it was an early entry day and I came in at regular park opening so there was no show. That's so disappointing!

I've been there bfore that date and after and never remember seeing a show such as that. Just the picking a family, etc etc etc

When I was a kid, we'd always go watch the rope drop at Disneyland. They had the characters out with brooms, mops, rags, etc. "cleaning up" Main Street before the park opened. I also remember something where a child was chosen to push a button that "turned on" Disneyland.

I don't think they've done either of those for a while.

Now, there is an Early Entry event of one type or another at least 6 days a week, so logistically, there can't be a rope drop show - and certainly nothing cool like the train arrival at WDW.

Unless I am totally mistaken, the best you may get is a cheerful castmember at the rope drop for whatever land you wish to enter first.

They picked the family, but also had characters show up in the train just like at WDW in 2010. I knew they didn't do that every day, but was hoping they would at least one day we were there. Bummer.

when we were there we got to go all the way in to main street and they had a huge rope roping off entrances to fl and the other lands. We were close not very front because we sat down for 20mins on bench waiting but we were one the first 10 though the rope drop. No show or anything a huge 10 second count down and then they let every one run where they were going. we went to small world first and to meet an greet with the girl from Brave it was fun to be there early enough to see that

When they do the little show the rope is up across each tunnel leading to Main Street. They keep you in the little area between the turnstiles and the train station. I'm really sad that they're not doing it any more, it was really fun.
