My family will be at MK during an expected crowd level 10 day (Monday, Nov 25). Especially complicating matters is that we're staying offsite.

I was not able to get a FP+ for 7DMT, so I'd like to try and rope drop it. I know it'll be crazy.

How early should I plan to get to MK that day?

Will the monorail at TTC be running earlier that morning? Not sure what Disney does on their busier days.

How early will those be running? I'm worried that we'll get there crazy early, but then we'll be stuck waiting at the TTC until 8:00 am before heading over to MK.

They won’t leave people stranded at the TTC. I’ve been on a 7am ferry before.

I would be at the tapstiles at least 60 minutes before the park opens.
I would also go to the right of the castle and take the path around the right side of the castle. It will put you closer to 7DMT.
Expect a huge crowd of people heading there. Hense, getting there early and positioning yourself early is very important.

On November 25th the park is scheduled to open at 9am, meaning main street will open at 8am and the ttc bag check and transportation opens at 7:30am. The Express monorail is usually not running that early and more times than not the ferry doesn't start until 8am so your'e stuck with the resort monorail. Hopefully since it's a heavy crowd day they will open other forms of transport early, look for buses as well, when it's busy they bring out buses.
I'll also be there that morning, i live stream every Monday morning from mk, and that's how i know the process

Might be a good day to take an Uber to Contemporary and walk over at 7am....then take an Uber home from whichever Resort pickup spot you prefer at the end of the day...
Interesting you mention uber to Contemporary. I'm planning an early MK start on Dec 27 and had thought of doing Minnie Van. I was told they leave you at MK bus stop.
Would it be better to have the van take me to the Contemporary?

The reason for the uber to CR is because it's going to be much cheaper than the Minnie Van and only a 10-15 min walk to the park. It's something I hadn't thought of but something I'm considering now.

MK bus stop is about 4 minutes walking time from Contemporary, but I expect the Uber could drop you off near the traffic lights, about 2 minutes walking time from where the Minnie Van drops off, IIRC

Is it really better to wait an hour before rope drop than being there right at rope drop and having to wait a while in line? Seems like you're waiting either way.

When you wait before the park opens you are not wasting valuable park time in line. While a person who arrived at RD is waiting, you have ridden and moved on to something else.

Probably a good plan. I guess if you can get you're family going that early and plan on spending only a few hours at the park, then I can see getting there so early. Nap time will be a lot earlier!

It's definitely not something we do regularly, because we don't RD the big headliners at the parks. RD has gotten bigger and bigger and if you want to do 7D, FoP, Slinky you simply have to get there an hour before they let guests in.

I personally like doing RD to fireworks but that's because I'm part of a pair of adults, both who can rise early and stay late. I can only imagine how poorly that would go with kids.

Wow! Haven't been to Disney World for 5 years. Taking my whole family with six little grandchildren. Getting very nervous about riding rides! We will have 3 FP but waiting in hour lines sounds awful! Getting to park early is a must!

When our kids were little this was our routine - they would nap in a stroller whenever needed and everyone had a blast. There are some days when it’s more effort to shlep back to the room for a break than we thought it was worth...we were always there at least 30 min before rope drop and always closed a park... occasionally we would hop back for a shower / bath around 4pm and be back at dinner somewhere for 6 - but not for a nap...

It should be noted that sometimes during EMH at MK, they only open Fantasyland and Tommorowland. Learned that the hard way after our beeline to Haunted Mansion.
