Does anyone think that during only the busier times of year, for example June or a holiday, rope drop will become even busier due to it becoming so much more essential because of FP+?

We never used RD before and now we are because we want to be able to actually have an opportunity to ride more than one ride in an hour. I wonder how many others will do the same, which will increase the amount of people coming at RD, thus leading to RD not being as effective in the past. I also wonder, if the typical time you would need to be at RD to be in the front of the pack will need to be even earlier.

I could be way off on this line of thinking. What do you think?

Yes, using yourself as an example of why! :rotfl:;)

I think there will be more people at rope drop now due to trying to get through their first 3 fast passes so they can book another...and that makes me sad. :sad1: I loved the early mornings....

It may not be as great an advantage as it once was, but it will still be the best time to ride SB.

I was hoping everyone would disagree with my concerns. Good thing I like to plan. I think I will show up at the gate an hour before opening. If that is too early or to late (YIKES), I will just adjust for the next day. Hate having to get up early on vacation. :sad1:

It might make a little difference, but my thought is that there is still a large contingency of people that refuse to get up early on their vacations. And there are some people that will book fastpasses for later in the day and decide that they don't need to do rope drop because they already have the headliners booked for later in the day.

My teen sons are coming with us in Sept and they have both made it clear that all of their FP+ will be in the late afternoon or evening. They would rather sleep in than ride more rides.

Ya know good parents would grab a couple extra Headliners on your bands for them to use when they finally get there. :) :scratchin

Otherwise a local AP user could reserve a family of 5 FP+'s and use them all themselves.

Really. Big loop hole possibly. That will close soon IMO.

It has existed for nearly a year now. Disney is aware of it. They have to link the two systems to change it. It will happen eventually (like it did with FP-) but I wouldn't care to bet on a timeframe. This is Disney IT after all.

So I could have my DSIL's AP family reserve FP+ (even though they are not going) for the week will be there, and I just bring their bands and have double FP+ ressies?

Yep - I am doing that with my wife's AP in 2 weeks.

I used RD on Monday at MK to go on 6 rides in the first 90 minutes during a level 7 park day, even so by 1100am the park was pretty busy and every major ride was at least 30 minute wait some much longer. Had my 3 FP+ set for afternoon when park crowds were at their peak. So I think RD is still a strong strategy as many people find it difficult to getting go early in the morning especially when on vacation. I do not think that will even change on the busiest park days.
