But they do indeed do so, now if it is a corporate policy or not, I can't tell you, I can just tell you multiple locations had the same or similar policy.

Multiple locations isn't an across the board, or even necessarily a majority, policy change. Like i posted above, a Holiday Inn Express in Colorado offers both smoking and nonsmoking rooms; while a new one in Massachusetts indicates smoking isn't permitted anywhere.

It's probably best not to make blanket statements about company-wide policies.

I'd call for clarification, but I'm sure they're busy checking in new guests at the moment.

our local hospital & mall both have huge no smoking signs and designated areas assigned and yet it’s common to see people smoke right underneath the signage

dd2 works for a charity and was asked at her interview if she smoked...
she was advised If she did; had to leave her work grounds completely
Not be wearing anything promoting the charity
And never in public at a hospitality event.
