What is the difference between a preferred room and a standard room?

Location is the only difference (other than price). The rooms and the views are identical. Calypso is the preferred buildings (which do have the best pool views), and are the closest buildings to Melody Hall (food court, bus, etc). That's the reason for the "preferred" esignation. In my opinion, it's not worth the extra money. Jazz are the next closest buidings if you want to request something convenient.

They asked me if I wanted the preferred building, when I made ressies for my last trip in Feb. I told them no! I than Faxed them 4 days before arrival,asking to be placed in the "nearest building to food court, NO POOL view" and I got the building I wanted, did NOT pay extra either. Hope to do it again in June!
