Happy Wednesday everyone!

I want to stay at the Poly in September 2018, with a view of the lagoon and fireworks from our room. It was pretty easy to figure out what views were what before they added DVC, now i'm confused.

If I rent points, what view would I request? Also, is trying to rent points a waste of time since the Poly DVC is new?

I'm trying to figure out the best deal, as we all do...i know ultimately renting points would be cheaper, but don't know if it would be possible.

:thanks:

I'm sorry, I don't know about the view. I don't understand what you are asking with regards to renting points being a waste of time? You can't even rent points for this stay for a year and a half (October 2017), so I don't know exactly what you are asking?

I know i can't rent until 11 months out at the earliest. I was wondering if it was going to be a possibility that people would be renting their points or if they would be hard to get, because of the Poly being a popular resort. I'm trying to figure out a budget and if getting into the Poly on points isn't an option (because they're not available), i'm not going work that into the equation...i'll just plan with Disney rates. The waste of time thing was for the planning aspect and then once my 11 month window opens up, would chances be good that we could get in, and put a request in.

I don't know if that clarified what i was asking or made it worse :confused3 but i hope it cleared it up

I think that people are having success renting the Poly at this point in time, so I'm guessing it could be available. Most DVC resorts can be rented at the 11 month window. It's such a long way off that it's difficult to tell what will be going on with Poly rentals for a trip that is two and a half years from now.

Ok great :) That's what i was hoping. I want/need to start saving now and having a ball park will def help.

All you can do is try renting the points, if that is the way that you want to go. No one can tell you if it will be possible or not. You will need to find someone at 11 months out that owns at the Poly and wants to rent the number of points that you need. I would let someone like Davids know what I was looking for at perhaps a year or 13 months in advance. It is new, so it might be difficult, but who knows?

I would plan based on Disney rates at this point. No one can foretell what might or might not be available in over a years time. If there is a discount or if points are available next year, then readjust your planning accordingly at that time. Even Disney rates aren't available this far out as 2018 rates aren't released yet.

Use 2017 rates to get an idea of what you are looking at needing and go from there with your planning. I wouldn't give up on renting points right now, but nor would I put a lot of hope into that. Just put it in the " I'll look at that possibility when the time comes" folder.

Good luck!

At Poly, you would need to rent the higher-point Lake View category, and try to get third floor. There is no guarantee you would GET third floor, as the extent of bookable view at Poly DVC can is "Lake" and "Standard," and even the lake views are wildly variable.

If a fireworks view is critical to you, book a standard poly room with Theme Park View, or book Club Level for the fireworks view from the lounge. DVC won't be a guaranteed view.

There is NO fireworks view or better said Theme Park view for Poly DVC. There is lake view but that does not mean your room will look direct across the lake it could look to a side of the lake in which case you would only see one side of the fireworks as they come from both sides of the lake. As far as renting points... Poly DVC is not very popular right now--that can change.... not that it is a bad resort but it requires a lot of points and they are studios ONLY (not entirely true as they have bungalows but a huge amount of points).... this weeds out a lot.... for reasons of not having enough points or needed a room larger than a studio.

I assure you this is not true for a rental perspective. The resort itself is about 40% sold (points) and 66% declared (rooms released to the condo association).

The challenge right now is more that there are very few points on offer for the 11-month booking. For popular seasons (all of this fall), 8AM of the 7-month booking window is fierce. There are dates in December already fully booked at Poly DVC.

But it is true, in general, that DVC view booking is mostly unspecific. The only DVC resort with specific fireworks/Theme Park View booking is Bay Lake Tower. If you look at the building with Lake View, some of the rooms there were TPV before conversion, but there also weren't bungalows.
