I just changed my July Dolphin reservation to AKL. I had enough startpoints to upgrade to club level for my stay at the Dolphin. When a July code was available for AKL, I wanted to try it. I booked a standard room (and saved money, even with my government rate at the Dolphin). Has anyone had luck with upgrading to club level at check in at a Disney property either complimentary or for a fee? Thank you.

Our last trip which was in 2002 we stayed at WL I did ask about upgrading and it was going to cost 50.00 a day to upgrade. We didnt think it was going to be worth the extra 400.00.
I know some have been lucky enough to get upgraded for free!!
Have a great trip!! :sunny:

I hav ebeen upgraded a couple of times. It depends on how crowed the hotel is when you check in. Sometimes they upgrade you when they do the room assignments a couple of days before you check in

In 2000 we had booked a lagoon view (non-concierge) room at full price. When we checked in we were put in a lagoon view room concierge. I asked later about this with someone at the resort I know and I was told that sometimes discount sites like Expedia or Hotels.com over book rooms. When this happens they sometimes move those who did not book through the discount web into an upgraded room and when they go way over on their bookings sometimes the discount site guests get bumped out of their reservation.

I am sure upgrades sometimes happen also when there is extra room and someone is having a special occasion.

Memorial day week 2003.
We requested the North wing (standard) room at the CR.
Could not afford the Tower.

Little did we know, the North Wing of CR was being used by SOG
people - military families. I guess the military resort was being revamped.

In anycase, we we not allowed to 'mingle' in the same area
as the military....
;) so we were bumped to a tower room.

Not the best view - we had the car driveway to the CR and the
roof of the convention center below us, when you looked down.
We could hear the music from Chef Mickeys in our bathroom every
morning and every evening.

But :) if you look straight across from our balcony, you could see Cindy's castle, the fireworks and the monorail.
We had a day bed for my DD and a nice view - if you looked straight across. And ;) we had the monorail a few floors below us and all the shops/eateries right in our building.

So - it may have not been the best upgrade - but
to be in the CR tower was wonderful.

A bit of magic is nice on your WDW vacation.
