Room upgrade?

Hi, I have a booking at BWI, booked through Disney UK, the water view was not available to be booked so I have a standard room booked. (I could not afford a water view anyway)
if I put in a request for one, how likely would it be that I would get one? Has anybody had any success doing this? wondering if it was worth trying.

We have no experience of this, but we are intending to ask for upgrades when we visit POR & AKL in July.

My theory is that you have nothing to lose, and if you don't ask, you don't get. You may be surprised and they say yes.
