Reading the posts today and once again ran into a thread comparing BWV/VWL and OKW room sizes suggesting that BWV/VWL are the size of a shoebox and OKW a concert hall......

I understand that BWV/VWL and BCV are comparable in design as is OKW and VB. Not sure about HH?

But to clarify a point without bias does anyone have the hard facts on square footage for the room sizes in the resorts.

Many thanks.

Happy New Year to all
:D :D :D

Thanks Pam OKW

Just caught up with that thread now.

Apologies for double posting

Am I reading this right???
...................OKW............BW...........VWL........HH

Studio..........376..............359..........356.........455

1bdr.............942..............712..........727.........856

2bdr............1333............1072........1080.........1311

GV...............2022............2142........**...........2362

A BWV Grand Villa is bigger than an OKW Grand Villa?

What will Rich do. This shoots down his theory on value:room size, Especially being that Rich almost always stays in a GV.

I think this might be a typo... there is actually another set of numbers on the same thread stating OKW GV is the bigger of the two.

Oh Well... As I've been told plenty of times "Size doesn't matter, it's the quality".

That is not true, there is a typo or something, if you look farther down in that other thread, you will see the OKW GV listed as 2375 sq ft.

It is a good deal larger and the volume ceilings aren't counted in the square footage either.

I saw the sq ft as 2450 somewhere.

We stayed in a 1-bedroom at both OKW and HH. The villa at OKW is larger but the villa at HH is just as comfortable. Drawer space at OKW was more, but HH was certainly ample. We enjoyed both resorts equally and didn't worry about which was larger. HH had a long balcony with 3 rocking chairs and a picnic table where we spent hours just watching the wildlife in the creek. OKW had a large balcony with a table with 4 chairs where we watched golfers hit their balls in the water.:D We loved both resorts and they both have a special"feeling." I look forward to trying the other resorts.

HH -- never visited

VB -- never visited

OKW -- Luxurious and extremely spacious

BWV, WLV (via tour) -- Shoeboxes

Sorry to disappoint, but it's true. :)

700+ square feet...boy those are some awfully big shoes in that box!

Imelda Marcos and Goofy could fit all their shoes in there even with the foldout sofa open...

You are talking about 700 sq ft for a one bedroom unit, not a studio, it honestly has the feel of a New York City tenament apartment. When combined with the 1.2 mile walk down the hall, its a place that I have no desire to return to.

It all depends on what you are used to. If you always stayed at OKW and then stay at BWV or VWL, you will think it's small. But if you are used to staying in regular hotel rooms, you will think it's big (1 bedroom or up). I do like the rooms better at OKW, but also like staying at BWV in December because it's close to all the Christmas activities at Epcot & MGM, plus I love the Boardwalk atmosphere, especially at night. We could hear the music from Epcot and see the fireworks from our porch last month. There's usually only 2 of us, so the space isn't a problem. We stay at OKW in May because that is a more laid back trip where we come and go alot, so it's good to have the car right outside. So we alternate our stays, best of both worlds!

Looking at a room and staying in the room are two different things.

Up until this past November, we've only stayed at OKW (we lost track of how many times we've stayed there in the 10 years that we've been members.)

We added on at VWL, and stayed in a 1 bedroom. It was great. We had absolutely everything that we needed and the resort is fantastic.

If you want to do some more comparisons:

All Stars - 260 sq.ft
Moderates - 314 sq. ft
AKL - 344 sq. ft.
Contemporary - 394 sq. ft
Boardwalk Inn - 385 sq. ft.
Yacht Club - 400 sq. ft.
Poly - 407 sq. ft.
Grand Floridian - 403 sq. ft.

With a studio at VWL being 356 sq. ft., it fits right in with the rest of the DELUXE resorts.

As I said before, I love both resorts. Having stayed at both, I think that my opinion has more merit than someone who simply looked at the room.

Come on now....it's possible for someone not to care for a resort but BWV is no more a tenement than OKW is located somewhere near Gainesville. People tend to exaggerate points when they don't care for a resort. We've got several very anti- anything that's not OKW or BWV (and I'll bet we'll have WLV snobs any day now). ;)

It's true the other units are smaller than OKW. BUT, they are certainly beautiful and plenty spacious. OKW, in some units, is truly as large as a real home where someone could live 365 days per year. BWV and WLV are designed more along hotel lines but are still fabulous.

We are very lucky to have such wonderful choices. Some of us like to mix things up....others like to stick with what they love. Personal choice but nothing at DVC is terrible. ;)

The entire Boardwalk lake circumference is 0.8 miles, the distance from the BWV entrance to EPCOT entrance is less than 0.4 miles. So Richyams would have us believe the BWV halls are longer than walking an entire lap around the lake and then over to International Gateway...not likely.

It is true the rooms are smaller than OKW, they are also in greater demand as they are...imagine your chance of ever getting a 7 month or less window reservation if the rooms were bigger!

Roominess or location? Richyams always signs off slamming Karl Marx. The reason Marx was so completely wrong about things is that he asssumed everyone would want and value all things equally. Obviously we each value things differently. Difference of opinions does not just makes for horse races, it improves the chances that what we value most will be in adequate supply.

To each his own.
