Room Sizes OKW vs. BCV

We just came back from OKW 1br (1st DVC... it was great), and our home resort is BCV.

Question.... i read the rooms are smaller at BCV.
* is this true?
* how much smaller?
* is the layout different?

OKW 1 bedroom = 1005 sq ft
BCV 1 bedroom = 726 sq ft
Layout is completely different also. You can see layouts on DVC Member website, if it is working yet (trouble there, for some of us at least).

At the top of the page, select a resort from the "See Our Resorts" dropdown menu, and then click "Accommodations" on the left side of the individual resort page. That will give you villa sizes and a link for floorplans.

With the studios, although OKW is bigger, BCV may seem more roomy because it has a sleeper sofa and the OKW studio has two queen beds.

We've stayed in 2 bedroom villas at BWV, and so we know what a 1 bedroom will be like there and at most of the others. But the 1 bedroom at OKW was so much like an apartment that we really do think that all of our 1 bedroom stays will be at OKW. We definitely enjoyed it!

The BWV villas are the second-largest, I believe. But even so, the one-bedroom at OKW is 16% bigger than BWV and has a full-sized washer and dryer instead of stacked.

OKW's one bedroom is 30% bigger than BCV, which also has stacked W/D...that's a BIG difference.

I've stayed in both BWV and BCV 1 brs and found no noticable difference between them. That extra 14% must be the inside of a closet or the entry way. Everything else seems alike. I'm just saying this because I moved from one to the other during one trip and don't recall standing at BCV saying "Wow, this is a lot smaller that BWV" From those percentages, the size different between BWV and BCV should be as noticeable as the different from OKW to BWV and it's definately not.

For the OP: the extra size in the OKW 1br is generally 1) more room in LR, including the open floor space and the island counter 2) the laundry room 3) the hallway to the 1br. The extra space is certainly nice as is the larger deck with table.

But - I would gladly gie up that extra space for the location of the BCV! If it's larger laundry and larger LR that you want - go for OKW. But if you want that pool and the convenience of Epcot and MGM by boat - go for BCV.

The public DVC website lists the size of BWV's 1BR as 814 sq feet. The sizes of the other resorts match what you posted.

Wow I appoligize for posting misinfo the 814 feels like its correct to me we stay in the 2br which has been a lockoff both times, since i think they only have lockoff 2br at the BW.

Does anyone know where those extra square feet are (BWV vs BCV). The rooms just don't look any larger to me, and the layouts are near identical. Are the rooms longer, wider -anyone know the dimentions?

Though I haven't measured it, my first impression on walking into a one bedroom at BCV is that the kitchen/living room is noticeably narrower than the same unit at BWV. I'm glad someone found the "814 square feet" measurement for the BWV one bedroom, because there was no way I was going to believe that a one bedroom at BCV was larger!

The thing I really dislike about the one bedroom at BCV is the funky bathroom layout - there are doors everywhere. I feel like I'm on "Let's Make a Deal" wondering what's behind door #2...

I am curious where your info came from. I just thought it was curious that the data matched Disney's exactly, except in the case of BWV. I assume the URL you posted was replaced with "****" because you don't have enough posts yet to post a URL. Maybe you could just post the bit between the "www." and ".com"?

There probably is some variation in sizes. For example, a 1BR in the corner of a building might be laid out differently than the 1BRs along the hallway. I know that for both BWV and VWL, DISers have posted pictures of some corner villas that were quite different than the floorplans displayed on the DVC website.

It looks like even with the "www." and ".com" removed, you still can't post the site info. There are some sites that cannot be mentioned here on the DIS. Oh well... thanks for trying!

We just returned from a week at a 1BR at OKW... (Had a great time!! )

While the size was larger than BWV, I wouldn't necessarly buy or stay there just because of that reason...

To us, location is more important than size... We went to OKW because we wanted to feel like we were away from it all... With the sheer size of the grounds at OKW and the fact that there is little around it other than the LBV Golf Course, we were able to find the haven we needed from the hustle and bustle... We only were hitting the parks one day this trip and didn't feel the need to be within a boatride of Epcot or MGM...

Of course the other advantage to OKW is the point charts... It is cheaper point-wise to stay there per night vs. BCV or VLW... It is also cheaper than BWV, but the "standard" view rooms help to compensate for some of that...
