Is a full room service menu available 24 hours? For example, could DD order a Mickey Bar for breakfast? (OK, OK, it's really me who would do that :goodvibes ) Is room service available when the ship is in port?

I think room service is available 24 hours but I think it's a limited menu. :confused3

Yes and yes. Just note though, some things like Mickey Bars aren't on the menu, but you can still order them. For room serive, have some dollar bills handy in your stateroom so you can tip the server.

Room service 24 / 7 ..yikes....I better lose at least 10 pounds before 11/26 cruise in order that my clothes fit me for the entire cruise. :earboy2:

how much do you tip?

i start at two, for the trouble of bringing anything, and since there are only three of us anyway, IMHO I'd have to pretty much order up full dinners for the three of us or something along those lines to go above 3 or 4. Now, if I have inadvertantly been a shameful cheapskate, please tell me, but the biggest thing we've ever done to date was continental breakfast for two. Might expand that a bit this go-round now that DS is older and becoming more bold.

My kids got pretty good at hitting that button on our 10 day cruise. DS in particular had them bring him a bowl of potato chips, and 2 whole milks late most afternoons. He'd usually take them to the movie with him. I just put a stack of bills in the desk drawer and told them to tip the server.

The room service menu is somewhat limited. If you're in conceirge (cats 1-3) you can get a full menu of room service. We didn't usually do breakfast. Instead, I'd head up to the buffet and bring back a tray for everyone to pick off of.

Lunch/evening, they had:
pizza
cheese and cracker platter
several sandwich/chip combos (PBJ, club, ham/cheese, turkey as I remember)
chicken noodle soup
chili
cookies
fresh fruit bowl (which was things like whole bananas, apples, etc., not CUT fruit)

Enjoy!

And the cookies are hugebig, and really tasty.

Those cookies are amazing...They become a quick addiction, more than anything else...

Hint, we often told them we had 8 kids or so in our room, and we needed a plateful or more.. :p

Did they really have potato chips? I don't remember them on the list, but did your kids ask? cool.

Yes they do, and they are good. Like Lay's plain I would say. We never directly ordered these, but they came with the sandwiches. Next time, I will order just the chips.. :cool1:

They definitely have chips. The first year we ordered a sandwich really just to get the chips. No one really wanted the sandwich, just had a craving for chips. I just started to ask for a bowl of chips so we didn't waste the sandwich and it wasn't a problem. You can also order just an order of fries, they are really good about giving you exactly what you want.

I wish they would change the room service menu. It's fairly limited and the pizza and manicotti are not the best. The tomato soup somedays is more like the tomato sauce they use for the manicotti than a soup and the room service chicken soup is boullion based (I found it to be different than the restaurant chicken noodle) and tasted like cup a soup. It would be nice to have a different soup of the day each day or a special salad of the day, etc.

Didn't stop my son from ordering a hamburger, fries and Mickey Bar at midnight every night. I just wish that if we wanted to eat on the verandah one night the choices would be a bit better.

Which Mickey Bars? On a stick chocolate covered like in the parks? :mickeybar

AND those who ordered things not on the menu, where you up in cats 1 - 3 or can anyone do that?

Thanks

The same Mickey Bars that are in the parks. They aren't on the menu but I learned that they could be ordered from reading these boards. They never hesitated bringing them when were were in a cat 4 and the cat 3. The only difference with ordering from room service in a cat 3 is the breakfast menu and the ability to order dinner from the restaurants.

:smooth: Now I am going crazy thinking thoughts of :mickeybar :mickeybar :mickeybar

What a day i picked to re-start my diet..

I am so bummed with myself. We were on the Wonder from 3/20 to 3/24. I had every intention of ordering a Mickey bar but was always too full! I think I need to plan another cruise again just so I can do this! Live and learn.
