We also stay clear of Cabana's for embarkation lunch. Be aware that the sit-down embarkation lunch on Wonder is not a buffet anymore, since they needed space in Carioca's to install a stage. It is a table service lunch in Triton's now.One of the dining rooms will have lunch also. It's still a buffet, but there are servers that bring your drinks and to answer any questions about the buffet. It's a lot less hectic than Cabanas. We've always used this option.

The restaurant on the Wonder is Tiana's Place now, not Carioca's that's exclusively on the Magic. We also stay clear of Cabana's for embarkation lunch. My post was missing "since they needed space in Carioca's to install a stage for the nightly music show when they converted it to Tiana's place". The space previously used by the buffet, that remained hidden for the rest of the cruise, now has server stations and tables. The stage is on the other side of the room, where there were tables before. The restaurant on the Wonder is Tiana's Place now, not Carioca's that's exclusively on the Magic.
I checked my Navigator for embarkation day last December and there's no starting time for Room service. I will guess they open at the same time as the staterooms ?I'm not sure but I don't think so - perhaps after 2:00pm it's ready? Which ship are you taking? We also go in the sit down restaurant vs cabanas because cabanas seems like a mad house.
Our PAT is 12:30 so probably won't be on until 1 or so and don't mind waiting a bit.

As soon as I get to my cabin, I pick up the phone and get two orders of All Hands on Deck, pop open my wine and sit on the veranda. Ahhhh!
I don't recall waiting that long.Maybe 20 minutes? But then I am only getting cheese and crackers that they don't have to cook. I don't think that many people order room service when they board since they direct you to restaurants and people eat there. And then when folks get to their room they think about unpacking or maybe aren't even aware they can order room service then. How is the wait when you first get to your room? Are they backed up by similar-minded orders, or does it come pretty quickly because not a lot of people are in their rooms ordering yet?
