Hi,
Quick question...

I hear they automatically add at 15 percent gratuity for room service. Is this true? If so, do you still need to tip them a couple of bucks? I don't mind tipping the person delivering unless I am automatically getting charged the tip.

Also, same with the bar. That I know they add a 15% gratuity. Is it common to tip a buck or 2 when ordering a cocktail? If so, you are probably doubling the cost of the cocktail.??!

I believe they only add 15% to a room service order if there's actually a charge for it (such as for soda or alcohol). If you just order food, there's no charge. In this case, I usually tip a few dollars, depending on how much we've ordered. I usually add this to any auto-gratuity when we do order something which costs extra.

At the bars, yes, they automatically add 15%, so a $4 beer costs $4.60. I usually add a buck to a two drink order, as well. The auto-gratuities go in a pool and are split amongst all the servers. Anything you add to that goes directly to the person who served you. In places like Diversions or at the old ESPN Sky Box, I tend to tip the servers/bartenders extra, since I usually spend a lot of time there during the week. For the occasional on-deck drink or just passing through a place like the Promenade Lounge, I'll usually let the 15% do the job.

In the dining room, they also add the 15% auto-gratuity. I don't add extra here because I tip the servers at the end of the week.
