Room(s) for Six

Where would you advise a family of six (kids 11, 9, 5, and 5) to stay at or near Universal Orlando?

You might want to try a suite. I believe that all the onsite hotels have one. If that is too pricey for you, the Holiday Inn and Suites on Kirkman Drive has suites at a nice price. Otherwise, try considering renting a house if you plan on staying for about a week.

We'll be mostly at Disney World, but staying for two days of our week off Disney property, including our first visit to Islands of Adventure.

Are discounts readily available on suites at the Loews hotels at Universal? Has anyone on this board stayed in one of them with four kids? What suites hotels in the area offer the best value?

I want to think I have heard of folks getting discounts on kids suites but I don't think that would be enough room for you guy's. Your best bet is to get two connecting rooms at the hotel you choose and hopefully book them at ent. rate that's what I try to do. Since we have reached lowes gold status we are entitled to an upgrade when availbable for a suite for and extra $35. So If you pay for one room you can get a parlor area that has a pullout sleeper sofa and a bulter pantry and t.v. and bathroom for more space. That would work nicely. In the summer (because the rates are lower than the holiday season) I'm going to book two rooms and cross my fingers I'll recieve an upgrade when I arrive. That way I would have a king del room and a queen deluxe room on either side of a parlor area! That's the goal anyways. We have triplet girls that are two and a 10yo and usually have to have help on trips so we end up with quite the group.LOL

Is there any pattern to when the Entertainment rate is and is not available? We're beginning to plan now for November 2003.

We got a better rate by joining loews first and going through them than even the entertainment rate - of course it was last Sept/Oct so there were lots of available rooms at the time. We have done a kid suite at HRH with 4 kids 13, 10, 5, 3 It was fine for us

Cats mom I was'nt aware that being a lowes first memeber came with special rates. What did you get? I was under the thinking anyone can call the lowes 800 number and book a room. That's were I book at atleast and I've always found the ent. rate to be the best out of fanclub, AP rate, AAA, Georgia Residents Rate. I did'nt know lowes had special rates for card holders. Please fill us in on what you have to ask for to get there discounted rate
