Greetings Friends!
I have a quick question: How do things work if you were to changes rooms in the same resort (say 1BR to 2BR, or vice versa) or if you were to totally change resorts (SSR to VWL)? If you cannot make your reservation for the same room for your length of stay, does Disney transport your luggage or are you responsible. I figure within the same resort, your luggage could stay at bell services for a while. Do you then have to do a separate check-in? Just curious as to how that all would work. Thanks in advance!

Jess

Disney will transport your luggage.

Either way you will have to check-in more than once and have multiple room keys. You'll also have no room from roughly 11am to 4pm, and may have to wait longer than that for your luggage to arrive if you are switching resorts.

We just did this over the 4th. We stayed at VWL on Saturday. And then moved over to BCV for two days. We only had a small bag each (we packed light) so we just rode the bus to the Magic Kingdom from VWL and then caught the bus to the BCV and took our two small carry-on bags with us. We then checked the two small bags in with Bell Services at the BCV to hold for us until our room was ready.

We have switched resorts in the past when we had lots of luggage. We called Bell services and they transferred our luggage to the new resort. You basically won't have a room from 11:00 a.m. to about 4:00 p.m. the day you switch. Unless you get lucky and get an early-checkin at the new resort. The resort gives you a card to call to check if your room is ready. Some people use the time lag between resorts to go to the parks or swim while they wait for their new room.

We have done both intra and inter resort moves. Bell services handled the luggage. We did tip on both ends.

We have express check-out and simply leave and enjoy our day then return in the afternoon to check in. Really easy.

I was curious, do they pick up the luggage from teh room you are checking out of or do you have to bring it down to the check-out area? If you have express check-out, can you head out for hte day and leave your luggage in the room or is it best to stick around?

We did this a few weeks ago from OKW. We called for the bell service and waited until they picked up the bags and saw him mark/tag them for BCV. We tipped him and went left for lunch, shopping, etc. At BCV, I handed the bell desk my tag after I checked in and the luggage made it up within 30 minutes. Another tip but well worth it for a group of 8 people.
