Sorry for the repeated question, I know I've seen this covered on here before but can't seem to get more than two pages of threads and search doesn't work for me either!

Anyway, how do you request certain rooms/floors? The only reference to any preferences I could see on the online ressie form was a choice between upper or lower floor. I think someone had mentioned faxing the request in a couple weeks ahead of time like at WDW. Do they actually note these faxes or ignore them? Do you just fax the main fax number?

I sent my request in about 4 days prior to arrival.
did not request a certain room, just Upper floor with pool view, and got that.

I had faxed our request the first time we stayed onsite...they claim they never got it. They said it went to the business center.

Easiest and best way is to call them. Tell them you'd like to add a room number/range request to your res. Tell them you know it's not guaranteed, but you'd like it noted.

Last resort...get what you want when you check in. I had noted a park view our first time staying onsite. Well, when I realized they were going to try and stick me in Tower 2...I politely asked about Tower 1 with a park view. I had a list ready to go starting with room 1733. That wasn't available, but 1729 was. DH said that was 2 doors down, so why not???

You can request by email or phone, but not guaranteed.... also, be 'insistant' "nicely" at the check-in.....

Good luck!

Thanks.....I emailed RPR and they replied saying they had forwarded my email to the Rooms Control Department. Fingers crossed that my wish will be granted! :genie:

Good luck! :goodvibes If I were you, I'd print the email you sent AND the reply they sent you back....just so you can "show" them how "early" you put your request in ;)

I received a second email yesterday that says "please be advised that room assignment is done at check-in at the hotel based on availability". I assume that when I arrive at the check-in desk the clerk will pull up my ressie on the computer, see the "request" and will look for available rooms in the location I have requested at that time and not prior to my arrival. So now I'm thinking that making a request prior to arrival really doesn't help any. :confused3 But if that really is the case, why do they have a Rooms Control Department? Either way, I'm hoping that since we have a morning flight, we'll arrive at the hotel before all the good views are taken :goodvibes

Right...they cannot "guarantee" a request, but it IS noted.... Arriving early will definately increase your chances of a better view/request being able to be fulfilled. Our very first stay there, I had requested a view of the parks in Tower 1 (high floor) because I wanted my DH & DS's first trip there to be perfect (and at the time, we didn't know when we'd be back).... When I found out I was in Tower 2, I wasn't happy and asked nicely if there was something in Tower 1.... They found me the perfect room....altho it took a few minutes and the lady checkin' me in wasn't happy with me (cuz I was being "picky")...but, ya know, I save all year to go to UO and spend a couple grand.... I don't care how much I'm spending while I'm there cuz it's my vacation...so, I darn better get a view of something other than the highway....if I want to look at a highway on vacation, I'll save my money and stay home!
That being said....maybe they should offer a slight discount to those who DO want the highway view :confused3

My sentiments exactly! I know that you can pay extra and be guaranteed a water view, but I don't want to look at the pool, I want to look at the parks. I totally agree with a discounted rate to look at the highway. They offer "obstructed view" rates at HRH so they really should offer "highway view" rates at RPR. If I wanted to see the highway, I could save a whole pile of money by staying off-site (I don't think the FOTL pass will be a necessity during the time we will be there).
