Room Requests

I've read here on the boards how people like one area of a resort over another (IE: @ SSR being stuck out in Carousel as opposed to being close to all at the Springs). How do you request where you'd like to be? Do you ask MS when you make the ressie or call the resort directly. How far in advance would you make that request? Thanks for your help!

Make your request when you make your reservation. Don't call the resort directly. And I think I'd prefer Carousel over the Springs (too crowded).
