Room Requests - Never done one before and I have a few questions!

We leave for Kidani in a Standard view 1 BR villa next Sunday! I have never made a room request before, but this will be our first time using our points and I am thinking if ever they would try a little harder to make a request happen, it *might* be for a first timer!

Does anyone have any suggestions for a room to request with a good "standard" view? Do I call MS ahead of time, or do I just ask when we check in for an upgrade, or something? I never really got how it all worked.

We are generally happy with anything because we're at Disney, we just thought it would be nice if we could make this trip a little more special and all of the Savannah view rooms were gone by the time I thought about it

I don't have any suggestions on your room request since we have not stayed at AKV yet. But I did want to tell you that we made requests on our last 2 trips and got exactly what we requested....and we've been members since 2006.

How specific do you get with your requests? Actual room numbers, close to certain areas (pool, bus stop, etc etc), or do you just say "best view available"?

It's better to make your requests more general than specific rooms. We stayed in a standard view at Jambo House and ended up with one of the reclassified savannah view rooms so had animals out our windows...we did not request it. Most of the standard view at Jambo are pool view and I read that since those are closer to the lobby, get requested more. The room we were in was farther.

I am not sure about Kidini and what is available there...but you should call MS if you want to put something in. And, any upgrade would be considered a changed reservation and you would be charged the additional points--the only time those happen with DVC is in the rare instances when a room needs to be taken it for maintenance. Just remember they are just requests. We've been DVC members since 2003 and go a minimum of 2x a year. Of the requests we've made we have gotten about 1/3 of them. We're happy whatever happens, just remember a request may not happen.

I called, but I'm not too worried about it. We are super laid back about our rooms, and are generally happy anywhere. And the way I see it, if I wanted a better view I could've/would've/should've paid for it

We'll see what happens!
