We are just about to make our ressies for our New Year trip and was wondering which rooms we should request at POFQ.

Many thanks for all your help. Maria

Maria - You will enjoy French Quarter. Where you request to stay probably depends on what you are after.

Bldg. 5 is close to the pool, food court and in the center of the resort. Bldg 4 is closest to the food court (depending on what end of the building you are at) and the closest to the bus.

This resort is so compact that most rooms are centrally located. Some people have said that being on the pool side of the building makes for some noise so you might be aware of that. A water view might also mean a river view. In that case, Bldg. 5 has a nice view of the river and is still centrally located to everything.

The resort is arranged with the pool, pool bar, laundry, playground and hot tub in the middle of it. The food court and lobby area is at one end of the pool area and the river is at the other end. Bldgs. are either to the right or left of this area. That makes it easy to navigate and there really isn't a long walk to anything. There is only one bus stop at this resort and it is at the front of the lobby area and to the right (as you go out). Easy to find. But, honestly, there isn't a bad location. We've stayed in bldg. 5, 6 and 4. All worked out well for us.

I agree.. we have stayed in buildings 6, 5, 4, 3 and 1 and never had a bad spot. no long walks in this hotel. Stayed at Riverside once and the walk was a long one afer a day in the parks. We love POFQ and have stayed there just about everytime. Whenever we have ventured to another resort.. we find out selves coming back to POFQ. I can't wait to see the remodeling.

Many thanks for your replies, it's really made me feel we've made the right choice.

Thanks,

Maria

Maria -- glad we could help. Welcome to DIS. As you get closer you will have lots of questions. Be sure to post them here. It seems like there is always someone who knows the answer or has the info.

Welcome aboard.

Are there any buildings that are all non smoking or do they go by floor here?

And, if I'm working with a ta, do I have her send in my room request or is it better to do it myself?

Thanks!
Anne

Some buildings are all non-smoking, others are all smoking, and some are smoking optional. I'm not sure which ones are which at POFQ. I think bldg. 4 is smoking optional, but I'm not sure.

I would definitely have your ta note your requests on your reservation. Room assigners look there. If you want, then you can fax your requests directly to the hotel 3-5 days prior to arrival. This may or may not help. Some have posted that the requests on your reservation are the most important and you should note everything you want, in the order that you want it.

For example, if your first preference was to be in Bldg. 5 then note that first. Then if you want adjoining rooms (side by side) or connecting rooms (door inbetween them) you would note that second. Then if you want ground floor room or whatever, note that next. Hope that makes sense.
