My youngest DD and I are checking into the GF for for three nights in October….just wondering if I should make any room requests or just see what happens??? for people who have stayed there before any suggestions??

That's hard to answer for someone else, it's like asking what flavor Ice Cream should I get. It depends what you are looking for. Some people like to be close to the elevator. Others like to be at the end of the hall as there is less foot traffic and quieter. Some people like higher floors, while others like ground floor.

What type of room did you book?

Garden view, outer building. I guess I am just wondering if there is any point or good rooms to request or just let it be what it is….

I can't think of a bad room at GF really. But Sago Key Garden Views have a nice view of the monorail. Big Pine Key is very close to the Courtyard Pool with some pretty views.

Loved my garden view room in Sago Key, I really grew to love watching the monorails glide by across the lawn and small finger of the lake. Sago is really close to the main building, and is right next door to the QS restaurant and its' lovely courtyard which is great for watching Wishes.

When ever anyone with children asks this question I always think Big Pine Key as your closest to the beach pool and literally 20 feet from the courtyard pool.

The GF is really not a widespread resort so no matter which building you choose you are close to everything. I think it all depends on what you really consider your most important requests. I never requested a building there because I wanted connecting rooms. That was my main, and I was granted that, so the building was incidental. With kids, you might like to be close to the beach pool.

I agree with dansdad that there really isn't a bad room at the GF, so I think you'd be happy anywhere. Also, as Nancyg56 posted, the GF isn't that spread out so while some buildings are closer to the main areas than others, none are far away. With that said, my 2 favorite outer buildings are Big Pine Key and Boca Chica. Both overlook the courtyard pool and are close to the main building. BPK is slightly closer to the main pool, but BC isn't that much farther. BPK does have some "less desirable" views as some rooms overlook the back of the pool house, but even those aren't that bad (IMO). Sago and Conch are on the other side by the marina and close to Gasparillas and bus/boat transportation.

I stayed at Conch and loved that location, and the last stay I was over at the furthest building (I forget the name) on the far side of Gasparillas. I really liked the location.

We just stayed in a garden view outer building this past August. We requested Big Pine Key building and thought it was a great location. We were upgraded to a lagoon view in Big Pine Key. If we go again I would request Big Pine Key on the end close to the main building. That is a great spot to be close to the food , monorail, both pools and lobby.

I HATED Conch Key theme park view. It was only five nights so I was too lazy to ask for a room change, but I did follow up with a letter of complaint. The horn from the Magic Kingdom transport boat was quite loud and started early and went late. Probably not as much of a concern if you're there when MK isn't open as many hours. The noise ruined a once in a lifetime splurge.

:sad1:

We're in Sago Cay and also booked a Garden View room. We have a dormer room with a view of the marina and the Main building. We like the proximity to the Main Building and the Courtyard Pool.

We are heading there in November and have a lagoon view room and we are thinking of requesting Boca Chica.

We have stayed in boca chica, big pine key, sago cay and conch key. We prefer boca chica and sago cay.

We love Sago. We've had views of the marina with a tiny balcony view of space mountain, and a lake/monorail view. Our rooms were quiet and we spent a lot of time on the balcony during downtime. I'd request a non dormer room bc those balconies are smaller and you have to stand to see the view.

There are a few garden view rooms in big pine key with views of the back of a building. That's why we request sago or conch key.

Sounds like you were in Sago the last time. My brother and SIL were just at the GF in July and they stayed in Sago and loved it. We've never stayed on that end of the resort, but it seems to be a quiet/peaceful area :goodvibes.

Well actually I love everything about the Grand Floridian . I cant wait to go back.

I second that :thumbsup2.

I just double checked and yes, we stayed in Sago. I liked it. It was quiet, but still very close to everything. It was an easy walk to the quiet pool, which was our preference, the main building and the boat launch. Gasparillas was closed for refurb while I was there, but that would have been so darn convenient as well.
