Room requests and online check in?

We have requests for our stay at the Poly that aren’t all options on online check in. Our requests are Tokelau building, connecting rooms, and near elevator. We called DVC and gave our requests… would you also request Tokelau and near elevator on online check in or would you not do online check in?

It's okay to do online check in just don't make any room requests because they would supercede the requests that you gave MS.

They assign rooms a few days ahead. If you called and have it on file just hope for the best. You could get all your requests or none.

Do online check in but don’t make any requests. Any requests you make via online check in will effectively ‘erase’ your already made requests & the online check in requests are so generic as to be essentially useless.

I've been told by MS that requesting during online check in does NOT erase what MS requested. Is it accurate - who knows? I'll see if I get my requests at Poly in 2 weeks.

Whenever we had specific reservations we wanted to make we have always emailed our request. That seemed to work best.

The online check-in doesn't include building names. Its just lower/upper floor, near elevator, near lobby. Categories like that.
I personally just rely on the requests I make with MS and don't put any preferences when I check in online.
SOMETIMES (but not always) I can see the requests I made with MS in my reservation. It will actually say "Tokelau".

Agreed. DVC room reservation requests are best handled through MS - they can include more specifics than anything we can handle ourselves online or during online check-in. Call, Chat, or email the requests with MS as soon as you can after you make your room reservation. Over the years, we've probably been about 50-50 regarding when we thought our room request was met and when it wasn't. But through MS, we can make 1 or multiple requests in our order of preference. You have more options through MS, too. For example, 'near elevator' is an online option - but we actually prefer 'away from elevator' - not an option online.

Just make sure they are in order of priority since you have requested 3 things and if they can't fill them all, they will usually go to what you asked for first.
