Room Request ?

I made my reservation a few months back for 8/25- 9/2 at CBR. I called today to finish paying it off. I asked if i could pay to be upgraded to a preferred room but none were available during my stay. My question is when and how should I make a room request for a building close to the main pool and food court. I also don't know which building is close but not considered a preferred building. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would request either Aruba 51 or Jamaica 45. Both are right next to the bridge that take you over to the main pool and food court. They are not considered preferred locations and the walk isn't bad at all since your close to the bridge. We were lucky enough to get Aruba 51 last year and put in the same request for our trip in September this year. It was really nice for us since we have two boys ages 4 and 2 and they loved the walk over the bridge. Good luck!

There is no need to get specific on building numbers. In fact that could work against you. Just request a room "near the main pool and food court". That tells the room assigner what is important to you. They will attempt to find you the best room in your category. If you were to request a particular building they have no way of knowing why you picked that.

As to when and how, when / if you do online check in at 10 days out, you can indicate some preferences, depending on the resort. At AKL for example, if you're in a savannah-view room, you have the option of entering a preferred savannah. I'm not sure what preferences, if any, are available for CBR.

Unfortunately, there isn't a box where you can type in a description of what you're looking for, you're limited to the options they give you.

If you can't enter "close to pool" on the online check in, you can also call in your specific request and ask them to note it on your reservation. You can do it at any time, but I've read on here that they start making room assignments at about 4 days before you arrive, so you'd want to call before then.
