We will be at POFQ 8/27-9/4. :headache: What is the best way to request a room location? I just dont want a view of the parking lot for 8nights. Every time I call I am super sweet and ask if they could make a note on my ressie that I would like a garden view and they tell me "that would be a prefered rm." I thought a prefered rm was a water view:confused3 . So today when I called to pay off my balance:yay: (Woo Hoo) I asked if she could put me near the food court(I figured I would try that) nope prefered rm. So where will my rm be? in the parking lot? I really dont want to pay extra, so will all of you savy dissers help me out? What is the best way to get the room you want? Should I send a fax? I thought they didn't accept them anymore...This is our first time staying onsite and I want it to be magical:wizard:
TIA

Disney got so many requests for certain rooms - such as near the food court, water view, woods view, etc - etc - etc.

That they decided to label these all preferred room locations and make people pay for that location.

I've never requested a room location before hand - I have (after establishing a conversation) with the CM at check in asked to be put in a room that had a nice view. And in all honesty - I've never had a bad room location at Disney. Some closer, some farther away, but there is good about either situation.

First off, you need to relax. Despite all of the posts about room requests, you really don't need to worry. POFQ is a small resort. I haven't stayed there, but I don't imagine that the walk from the furthest point to the food court would be much more than five minutes. :confused3 Disney does a great job of theming and landscaping, and I don't even know if there IS such a thing as a parking lot view. If there is, it is something you probably wouldn't even notice.

To be honest, with a positive attitude, the trip will be magical just because you are at Disney World and with your family!

Enjoy!

I think the problem you are encountering is in the phrasing of your question. "Garden view" and "close to the food court" refer to other type of rooms (although POFQ only has two types- Standard and Water View). If what you want is to not have a view of the parking lot, then you can specifically ask for "non-parking view" or "best view possible". You can also request a floor (2nd or 3rd, or just "high floor"). In a higher floor, even if you face parking, you'll have less foot traffic and at least a better view of landscaping.

If all else fails, just explain the situation clearly, and keep trying.

Regarding faxes, some people still send them and get results, although most of what I have heard is that they mostle ignore them. I put my requests in my ressie and have always got them.

THAT SAID, remember that requests are not guaranteed. You might not get them; they grant them based on availability. Don't be disappointed. POFQ is a great and beautiful resort. Even "parking-lot views" are separated by landscaping and are very nice.

Good luck!

We stayed at POFQ this past Dec 30-Jan1 (it was wonderful!) in a std room. I didn't make any requests, other than non-smoking (no need for that any more). Our room was located on the first floor of building 1 - this is about as far as you can get from the main building and everything, but still it was only about a 5 minute walk to the food court, bus stop, pool, etc. We enjoyed the location because it wasn't very busy (no noise) near our room. Oh, and it was less than 5 min to get to the boat dock (to take the boat to go to DTD). The whole resort is beautifully landscaped - cobblestone 'street' nice lighting, beautiful plants and shrubs, cute statues and lovely fountains. All along the walkway near our room there were flowering shrubs - it was very very nice. If I looked off in the distance a bit from the room I could see the parking lot, but there was no noise from it, and it was far enough away I was not concerned with my children wandering off to it either. Those shrubs kinds of obscured the line of sight to the parking lot. One important thing to know about the rooms at the moderate resorts though, is that no matter what your 'view' is, you can't sit in your room and enjoy it - the windows are too high to sit down and look out - so you only really see the view when you are walking in and out of the room. There is no balcony - only a walkway just outside.
IMHO it is definitely not worth paying extra for preferred view at POFQ - the resort is compact enough that you can enjoy everything there as you walk around. Preferred/water view could be pool or Sassagoula River view...not worth extra $$ to me anyway. Perhaps at CBR, CSR or even POR being close to the pool would be important, but POFQ is compact enough it isn't an issue. You can see a map of the resort here:

If you wanted to make a request, maybe request a particular building, or perhaps a corner room (two windows so it makes the room brighter). Other than that it's just not worth worrying about - I'm confident you will enjoy it. You probably won't be spending much time in your room anyway! :woohoo:

We stayed at POFQ in January 2006. We booked a standard room and the only request was non-smoking. These days, you don't even need to request n/s. If I remember correctly, we were in building 4 on the 3rd floor. Our room overlooked the courtyard and if we looked the right way, yes we could see the parking lot, but it wasn't that easy. I don't think any of the rooms actually overlook the actual parking lot. We were also a stones throw from the main building and the food court. You really can't be far from anything at POFQ.

I will see if I can find the photos.

Basically, stop worrying about the view. Honestly, how much time do you plan on spending in the room looking out the window?

Ok, here are some pics.

:thumbsup2 Thanks for the pics they look great! I did speak to a CM and she said the same thing about the parking lot being obsecured by bushes ect. so thats fine with me. It has been a log time since we have stayed in a motel room(and never at disney) We have a house down the shore and have always rented pool homes when we go to disney, this time I am looking forward to being at disney 24/7:cool1: . And you're right I probably wont be in the room much, But I do plan on spending some time at the resort.

This is my favorite resort! We stay here as often as possible. There are no bad rooms there!!! Everything is so close and the walk from the furtherest building is 5 minutes. It is the most beautiful (IMHO) resort on property. Last year, I asked for building 4, our favorite, and unfourtunatly, that building was going through a refurbishing on the outside so they gave me building 5. I was disappointed at first, but then realized that it was right next to where I wanted to be anyway!!! There are courtyards at most all buildings and if you crane your neck, you can see the parking lot. Building 4 faces the parking lot but honestly, we really didn't notice it at all.

Have a great stay and relax! It is Disney!!!!!

POFQ is a great place to walk around and just enjoy the view of the resort. It's also fun to check out the names of the "streets". Rue D'Baga, Cake Walk, etc.

And the boat ride to DTD is nice too. It's a nice resort to just spend idle time away from the parks.

We never did walk along the water over to POR, but I hear that's a pretty nice walk too.

This has become our favorite resort! We will be returning there in Feb. or May 2008. In May 2006, we were in building 1 and faced the parking lot, BUT we had a huge, blooming Magnolia for our "view." Beautiful! We are from the Magnolia State, and our view couldn't have been more welcome.

You'll love POFQ!
